By having the supplies available individually, children feel free to experiment without fear of \"messing up,\" and that independence has sparked bold creativity that I've loved to watch.\r\nDuring our recent Farm theme, the class embarked on a collaborative art project: crafting cows to hang on the bulletin board. The board now bursts with personality and tells a visual story of what the children have learned about farm life.\r\nOn craft day the students are always excited to see what supply we will get to use and what we are creating. We have several students who are so eager to do art, they will happily complete the same craft more than once. Their enthusiasm and willingness to dive in was heartening. Going forward, these art supplies will be woven into our year-long curriculum. As the children begin learning the alphabet and how to write letters, we'll integrate art: making letter collages, shaping letters in playdough, and illustrating words with pictures.
