Students were immediately excited and curious when the materials were introduced. Many were eager to try the earbuds and appreciated having the option to listen to texts being read aloud. The digital clock quickly became a favorite because of its bright colors and temperature display, which students pointed out right away. The calming strips were met with interest, and students who frequently use the Calm Down Corner were especially enthusiastic, quickly incorporating them into their self-regulation routines.\r\n\r\nStudents use the earbuds 2–3 times a week while working on the reading ed-tech platform CommonLit, which includes a read-aloud feature. This has been especially helpful during close reading activities, allowing students to listen to the text while following along, replay sections, and better comprehend complex passages. The earbuds support independent work time and help students stay focused during reading assignments.\r\n\r\nThe digital clock is mounted on our classroom wall and is used daily. Students frequently reference it to manage transitions and stay aware of time. They also enjoy the colorful display and regularly comment on the temperature feature, which helps them feel more aware of their learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe calming strips are placed on the armrests of the rocking chair in our Calm Down Corner. Several students use them daily when they visit the corner to help regulate emotions and manage feelings of being overwhelmed. Your generosity has already made such a meaningful difference in our first-grade classroom. My students were absolutely thrilled when they first saw the new SEL materials and prizes—eyes wide, smiling, and immediately curious about how they could use them. These tools have quickly become a natural part of our daily routines, especially during our calm-down moments and SEL lessons. The prizes have also helped reinforce positive behavior and support students who benefit from extra motivation and emotional-regulation strategies.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments so far was watching a student who struggles with emotional regulation independently choose a sensory tool and return to learning calmly after just a few minutes. Moments like these remind me how powerful the right resources can be. The class as a whole has also been showing more responsibility and empathy toward one another because they are excited to earn SEL-based incentives and to use the tools appropriately.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these materials will continue to support our ongoing SEL lessons, behavior goals, and student self-regulation practice. Your contribution has not only given my students access to tools they truly need but has also brought so much joy and confidence into our classroom. Thank you for believing in us and helping our students grow—socially, emotionally, and academically.","fullyFundedDate":1758221921307,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-class-with-sel-prizes-and-tools/9645391/","projectTitle":"Help Our Class With SEL Prizes and Tools!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Perez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10012824_orig.jpg?crop=848,848,x171,y129&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746402788865","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10012824"},{"teacherId":9866715,"projectId":8993659,"letterContent":"I hope this message finds you well.
