Each day, we have about 20 minutes of downtime before heading to specials, which is typically used for breakfast and settling in. With the addition of these engaging materials, students now have a fun and stimulating way to kick off their day. It's wonderful to see them practicing critical thinking skills while waking up their brains!\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies first arrived, the excitement in the classroom was palpable. The students couldn't wait to dive in and immediately wanted to play whenever they finished their work. Originally, we planned to use the resources solely during morning time, but we quickly recognized their value and have now integrated them into our 10-minute quiet time in the afternoon as well. The students are focused and eager to try each game, and it has truly enhanced our classroom environment.","fullyFundedDate":1754829825928,"projectUrl":"project/making-our-mornings-meaningful-with-crit/9254594/","projectTitle":"Making Our Mornings Meaningful with Critical Thinking","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Theis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8976167_orig.jpg?crop=2208,2208,x0,y515&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1740859616505","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8976167"},{"teacherId":8976167,"projectId":9134687,"letterContent":"The new series received through this project provide students with the opportunity to explore engaging narratives while developing their love for reading. For both our growing readers and those who may be more resistant, getting hooked on a series is incredibly important. As they delve into these texts, they become familiar with consistent vocabulary, characters, settings, and themes. This familiarity alleviates the stress of adapting to different authors' writing styles or navigating entirely new storylines.\r\n\r\n In our classroom, we typically start with a whole group text that we read together, which allows us to build important reading strategies as a class. After that, students have the chance to choose a book for independent reading, with guidance from me to ensure they select an appropriate level. There have been instances where a student has read the first book in a series, only to find that neither our classroom library nor the school library has the remaining titles. In those cases, I'll often source them from our local public library. The availability of so many high-interest book series, thanks to this project, allows us to get books into students' hands much faster.\r\n\r\n I must say, the enthusiasm in our classroom has been wonderful! Every time we would receive a new box of books, the excitement is palpable as students eagerly anticipate what we will add to our library. Among the series garnering the most attention are The InvestiGators by John Patrick Green and Dog Man by Dav Pilkey. Many students have expressed how much they enjoy these stories, often sharing their favorite moments with one another.","fullyFundedDate":1744290643904,"projectUrl":"project/fill-our-shelves-with-new-series/9134687/","projectTitle":"Fill Our Shelves with New Series!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Theis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8976167_orig.jpg?crop=2208,2208,x0,y515&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1740859616505","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8976167"},{"teacherId":7611597,"projectId":9088433,"letterContent":"I have been able to set up a new bookshelf specific to chapter books/series books in our classroom because of your donation. They go from being compliant readers to actually being engaged readers all because they have the right books in their hands. \r\n\r\nWe have 10 kids reading either almost at grade level, at grade level, and above grade level.
