Because of your generosity, my students are now using this innovative resource to explore science, engineering, and sustainability in a hands-on and meaningful way.\r\n\r\nWe are actively using the Tower Garden as part of an integrated STEM project where students design, build, and maintain a vertical growing system while collecting real-world data. Students are measuring plant growth, monitoring water usage, analyzing nutrients, and recording observations in STEM journals. One standout moment occurred when students noticed differences in growth between plant varieties and began asking thoughtful questions about light exposure, nutrients, and environmental conditions. That curiosity led to rich discussions, hypothesis-building, and problem-solving—exactly the kind of authentic learning we aim for in STEM education.\r\n\r\nWhen the Tower Garden materials first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students gathered around, eager to help assemble the system and amazed that plants could grow without soil. Many students expressed that they had never seen or experienced anything like it before. Their reactions ranged from surprise to excitement, and even students who are typically quiet were actively participating, asking questions, and volunteering to help. The Tower Garden instantly became a focal point of our classroom and a source of pride for the students.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue their current lessons by connecting the Tower Garden to engineering design challenges and real-world applications. They will analyze collected data, adjust growing conditions to improve outcomes, and explore how hydroponic systems can address food sustainability and access. We also plan to incorporate cross-curricular connections by calculating growth rates in math, researching sustainable agriculture in science, and reflecting on food equity and environmental responsibility in class discussions.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our classroom has transformed into a living laboratory where students are engaged, empowered, and inspired.
