With your donations I am able to provide fun and engaging activities to help my students improve their language skills, as well as increase their communication.\r\nMy students were so very excited to play with all of the new materials that I was able to obtain with your donations. The tot tube has been a hit! The kids love to push my toy cars through the tube! It is so fun to watch them and interact. \r\nI plan to use these new materials to help my students increase their vocabulary knowledge and usage, as well as their ability to communicate with others. Being able to get inside the lycra while I provide my students with gentle linear rocking is such a calming thing for them and truly sets them up to be able to then come to the table and work on more academic and fine motor tasks that are otherwise difficult to get my students to engage in. One student loves to fill it with his Little SPOT Emotions and we discuss and work on emotions while he swings. \r\n\r\nNext - All of the letter based games and writing tablets have been amazing in getting some of my more involved students to WANT to work on letter recognition and matching as well as the visual motor skill of writing letters. We can build, sort in sensory beans, use tongs and then draw and erase on our LED tablets and magnetic tablets. Increased participation with these skills will most definitely lead to carryover as we move to higher level skills. And the BEST BEST part of it all is that my students are having FUN doing it and feeling successful!! Check out those clapping hands in our photos.\r\n\r\nI really cannot express how much the donations for this project affected my kids and also brought me hope that there are so many people out there who want to help and who see potential in my students. My older students- 3rd through 5th grade love Merry Go Sound. It's a hit every time I bring it out. \r\n\r\nThese activities help the monotony of repeating the same words and creating sentence week after week of therapy. Today my students were surprised with the opportunity to shop for brand new books that were purchased because of your generosity. I can't even begin to describe the excitement on their faces when they realized that the brand new books that I had spread out on a table were for them to take home and keep forever. I was very cognizant of the books that I chose for my students. Some of the books were series that I know they enjoy reading , some books that I've read as read aloud that they fell in love with, and I made sure to include non-fiction books so that they have the opportunity to build their background knowledge.\r\nOne of my goals every year, as a teacher in a title one school is provide books for my students to have at home so that they can not only increase their literacy but also learn to love reading. There is something almost magical about a brand new book, especially when you come from a home where there may not be money for a luxury such as a brand new book. So thank you from the bottom of my heart because without your donations, my students would not be going home today with brand new books to call their own.","fullyFundedDate":1733794533562,"projectUrl":"project/reading-can-take-you-places/8969171/","projectTitle":"Reading Can Take You Places!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Adams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8438957"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_40675","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":603,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":22,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":56,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":60.2,"schoolId":40675,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about H.S.
