The materials you have kindly donated have made a significant impact in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe printer has been a valuable tool in enhancing my students' learning experiences in several ways:\r\n1. Access to Physical Resources: Having a printer in the classroom allows me to print out worksheets, assignments, reading materials, and study guides, which can be particularly useful for students who learn better with physical materials.\r\n2. Creative Projects: It enables me to produce visual aids such as posters, diagrams, charts, and reports for projects, presentations, or group work. This helps the students develop creativity, design skills, and a deeper understanding of the subject matter.\r\n3. Support for Learning Differentiation: I can print specialized materials tailored to different learning levels or needs, such as simpler texts for struggling readers or more challenging problems for advanced students. This helps provide a personalized learning experience for all students.\r\n4. Enhancing Presentations: I can print handouts, or visual aids, which can enhance the students' ability to communicate ideas effectively. \r\n\r\nOur carpet in the classroom offers several educational benefits, contributing to both the physical and emotional environment of the learning space. Here's how it supports my students' learning:\r\n\r\n1. Comfortable and Flexible Seating: Carpets provide a comfortable seating option for students, especially during group activities, storytime, or class discussions. They allow students to sit on the floor, which can be more relaxing and conducive to engagement for younger students or those who prefer less traditional seating arrangements.\r\n2. Promotes Group Work: The carpet area often serves as a space for small-group activities or collaborative work. It helps break down the barriers of traditional desk seating, allowing students to work together more effectively, share ideas, and engage in discussions in an informal setting.\r\n3. Encourages Movement: For younger students, carpets can create a space that encourages movement, such as stretching, kneeling, or sitting comfortably. This can be particularly useful for students who may find it challenging to stay seated for long periods and need more flexibility in their learning space.\r\n4. Fosters a Sense of Community: A carpet can act as a central gathering place in the classroom. When students come together on the carpet, whether for circle time, group discussions, or storytime, it fosters a sense of community and belonging. It helps create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere where every student feels involved.\r\n5. Clear Boundaries: In classrooms where students are often engaged in various activities, carpets with distinct zones or colors can help define spaces for specific activities (e.g., a reading corner, discussion area, or group work spot). This can keep the classroom organized and help students know where they should focus their attention during different times of the day.\r\n6. Helps with Focus: Sitting on a carpet can help some students focus better, as it creates a less distracting environment than traditional desks. The tactile experience of sitting on the carpet might be calming for certain students and improve their attention and engagement.\r\n7. Supports Classroom Management: A designated carpet area can make it easier for the teacher to manage the class, especially during circle time or group discussions. It can signal to students when it's time to gather together, fostering structure and routine in the classroom.\r\n8. Sensory Development: For younger students, a carpet provides a soft surface that encourages exploration through touch. It can also support sensory learning, especially when paired with tactile materials or activities that involve sitting, lying down, or playing on the carpet.\r\n\r\nIn addition, since becoming a teacher, I've also been struggling with my voice, and sometimes it becomes hoarse. However, thanks to the microphone, I can now preserve my voice while speaking with confidence. It also helps me maintain control in the classroom, particularly in large or noisy settings. With the microphone, I can ensure my voice is heard clearly, which encourages better focus and participation from my students.\r\n\r\nWith heart full of gratitude, thank you so much for supporting a teacher like I am for the love of teaching.","fullyFundedDate":1726580995441,"projectUrl":"project/for-the-love-of-teaching-special-educati/8673377/","projectTitle":"For the Love of Teaching Special Education!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gersalina","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9686895_orig.jpg?crop=1102,1102,x0,y99&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723951093796","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9686895"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5769","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":229,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":97,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":64.2,"schoolId":5769,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Gregory Math & Science Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Gregory Math & Science Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/chicago-public-school-district-299/gregory-elementary-school/5769"}
