They loves this and indicated that they felt the skillls they learned to manage money was something would use in real life!\r\n\r\nThey also created a vending box for staff. They decided on items and prices, learning about cost and profit, and supply and demand. They monitor inventory, and track profit and loss. They absolutely love this and are looking forward to using profits for an end of year activity. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for giving them an opportunity to learn life impacting skills!","fullyFundedDate":1727048006566,"projectUrl":"project/careers-and-finances/8801519/","projectTitle":"Careers and Finances","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pearson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9762408"},{"teacherId":9714080,"projectId":8714954,"letterContent":"In a year with a slim budget for books, this donation has made a huge impact in the reading choices of my seventh and eighth grade students, as well as the fifth and sixth graders. My students love the new books! Some of those reading at an upper grade level were out of new books to continue to read for enjoyment and to meet their Accelerated Reader goals.\r\n\r\nThe Donor's Choice funding allowed me to purchase a wide variety of subjects and satisfy the preferences of all of the students. They were so pleased at how many books were able to be purchased for their age group. Without this donation many students would have been frustrated at the lack of choice, and having the ability to choose is very motivational to readers. I enjoyed the process of surveying student desires and I made sure there are AR quizzes corresponding to the books. I chose books that would challenge the readers in content and reading level and especially looked for multicultural and classic materials as well as fantasy and science fiction. The book bins have been set up and the kindergarten bookshelf is now organized by themes. For example, there are bins about dinosaurs, insects, fantasy, and animals. This has had such a positive impact on my students ability to select books of their interests independently. I am seeing a large increase in students choosing to read books from our library during their freetime. \r\nThe light covers have helped considerably reduce the brightness of the fluorescent lights. This not only helps eye strain, but provides a more calming atmosphere. The bouncy chair and floor cushions have been great for flexible seating in our classroom. \r\nThe STEM straw building kit has been used to encourage creativity, design and creation, and cooperation as students take part in STEM activities. We have not used the word builders yet, as they are not quite ready for this activity, but I am confident they will be a great hands-on activity when students are working on word-building this winter.\r\nThank you again, for donating to our classroom it has truly made a positive impact.","fullyFundedDate":1724497641848,"projectUrl":"project/helping-little-learners-grow-and-learn/8688128/","projectTitle":"Helping Little Learners Grow and Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. May","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7186950"},{"teacherId":9720389,"projectId":8725156,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donation to make math in motion come to life. The students were absolutely thrilled getting to use new tools to engage not only their bodies, but their minds as well. I don't even think they realize they are using math and reading skills as well as engaging in physical activity. \r\n\r\nLooking for new activities to help the students learn basic sight words and math skills in a new environment has been a fun challenge. The students love getting extra practice finding their sight words in a game of sight word match. They take turns rolling dice with sight words on them and then have to go out and find their word on a card spread out around the gym floor. There are lots of laughs while learning. \r\n\r\nI hope to continue using these resources as the students grow in their learning skills. I plan to continue incorporating fun reading and number games into our monthly physical education schedule.
