Because of your generosity, our PreK classroom now has a space that feels calm, joyful, and truly special. It's a place where stories are not just heard, but shared, explored, and loved.\r\n\r\nSince this project was fulfilled, the listening center has quickly become a favorite part of our classroom. It is common to see multiple children choosing to listen together, sitting side by side and experiencing the same story as a group. What was originally introduced as a center has naturally turned into a shared space for connection — students react together, laugh together, and talk about what they hear in ways that feel meaningful and authentic. We have also been able to use the listening library during whole-group times, allowing us to come together as a class to listen, imagine, and learn through stories.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful parts of this project is how adaptable it has been to our classroom learning. We are able to record stories that directly connect to our current themes, which helps make our lessons come alive in a new way. Because of this, the listening library grows alongside our curriculum rather than feeling separate from it. Students can independently access stories that match what we are learning in class, giving them a sense of ownership and confidence in their learning. I've even added a gentle chime when recording certain stories so students can follow along with a physical book if they choose a themed Tonie. This small detail has made a big difference, allowing students to connect spoken language to print in a way that feels natural and achievable.\r\n\r\nPerhaps the most meaningful impact has been the access this provides for our students. The listening library allows children to \"read\" independently, even if they are not yet decoding words on their own. For some of our students, this is the first time they have been able to engage with stories independently and successfully. It opens the door to books and language experiences they might not otherwise have, and it helps build confidence, comprehension, and a growing love of literacy.\r\n\r\nBeyond academic skills, this project has brought a sense of calm and emotional comfort into our classroom. Listening time has become a moment for regulation, focus, and quiet joy. Students learn how to slow down, listen carefully, and enjoy being present with a story. For children who are still learning how to manage big feelings, this has been an especially powerful and unexpected benefit.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, what you have given us goes far beyond materials. You have given our students the message that they matter, that their learning is worth investing in, and that there are people beyond our classroom who care deeply about their success. That sense of being supported and believed in is something our students will carry with them far beyond this school year.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping create a classroom filled with curiosity, imagination, and a genuine love for learning. Your generosity is felt every single day — in quiet listening moments, shared laughter, growing confidence, and the joy our students bring to each story they hear.","fullyFundedDate":1762780511712,"projectUrl":"project/listen-learn-and-imagine-building-our/9882076/","projectTitle":"Listen, Learn, and Imagine: Building Our PreK Listening Library!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Romberg's","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6462615_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723729641525","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/romrixie"},{"teacherId":9702900,"projectId":9488613,"letterContent":"I am very appreciative of your donation to help us get Scholastic Digital and print magazines in our VPK classroom. The students love hearing the magazine read aloud and seeing the pictures. Some of the four year olds can read a few of the words! They love the interactive capabilities of having the digital activities on our Promethean board and watching the videos. They also enjoy the dances and songs. \r\nThe parents have told me that their child loves bringing their print magazines home and sharing it with them. \r\n\r\nToday, we enjoyed learning about various animals and how they hibernate during the winter. It's usually warm here but we have had a couple days of cold weather that helped them understand. We talked about the different words in the story that meant sleeping. They loved being able to actively participate in the memory (matching game) on the Promethean board. They even read a number, drew that many berries on a bush for each bear to eat, and counted to be sure they had the correct number. This is also a great way for them to practice fine motor skills. \r\n\r\nThis is such a fun way to incorporate many preschool skills with non-fiction stories!","fullyFundedDate":1756749388141,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-foster-a-love-of-nonfiction/9488613/","projectTitle":"Help Us Foster a Love of Nonfiction!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Harmon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9702900_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753107005572","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9702900"},{"teacherId":6462615,"projectId":9260959,"letterContent":"Thanks to your incredible generosity toward our \"My Big World: A Scholastic Adventure\" project, our class is ready to set off on a learning journey that's truly out of this world!\r\n\r\nBecause of your donation, our classroom is now stocked with a treasure trove of engaging materials that will spark curiosity, inspire creativity, and make every lesson come alive.
