I received a set of conversation dice so when kids come into my office and they are feeling hesitant to talk, we take out the dice and take turns answering questions. It starts to build trust and sometimes the answers can lead to more meaningful conversations. \r\nAdditionally, I was able to create calm down boxes for teachers that requested them. In these boxes are fidgets, a soft stuffed animal, a problem-solving activity, stickers that have aid in breathing techniques and a timer to help them manage their time to get back on track. Teachers and students were very excited to have a tool in the class so students can regulate without having to leave the classroom. The last tool I wanted to thank you for was the team building bucket activity. I intend to use this for my team building activity before they head out to middle school. They have a bucket in front of their waist while their partner tries to get the ball inside. Overall, I'm in gratitude and blessed to have been selected for the Donors Choose program. When I introduced activities such as Busy, Busy Bakeshop, my students were able to practice cooperation by communicating their ideas and working towards a common goal. Part of that activity involves risk of the group plan being interrupted by a mouse stealing donuts, which gave students the opportunity to practice self talk and other calming strategies when the dice didn't roll the way they were hoping. \r\n\r\nThey have also had the opportunity to practice their communication and social emotional skills by role playing using the Melissa and Doug Flip and Serve Pancake Set and Diner Restaurant Play Set.
