All of our students have special needs, and one of our biggest areas of focus is helping them build adaptive and self-help skills, as well as executive functioning skills. Before we had this cabinet, materials were stored in different places, and many students struggled to stay organized or remember where their belongings were. Something as simple as finding their own items could be overwhelming, which often led to frustration and took precious time away from learning.\r\n\r\nNow, each student has a clearly defined space inside the cabinet where their materials are stored. This simple structure has become a powerful teaching tool. Students are learning to independently put away and retrieve their belongings, make choices, follow routines, and take responsibility for their materials. For our students, these are not small steps. These are real life skills.\r\n\r\nDuring free choice time, they walk to the cabinet, unlock it, and get what they need on their own. Seeing their excitement and confidence when they realize \"I can do this by myself\" has been incredible.\r\n\r\nThe cabinet has also transformed the atmosphere of our classroom. With materials stored in one secure place, the room feels less cluttered and more peaceful. Students are calmer, transitions are smoother, and the environment feels safe and predictable, which is especially important for children with special needs.\r\n\r\nThis project was not just about storage. It gave my students independence, structure, and a sense of ownership over their space. Your generosity helped create a learning environment where they can grow and practice essential skills every single day.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting my students and believing in what they are capable of.","fullyFundedDate":1746745778446,"projectUrl":"project/a-place-for-everything-giving-my-studen/9101486/","projectTitle":"A Place for Everything: Giving My Students Their Own Space!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hauenstein","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9917714"},{"teacherId":9511151,"projectId":9252642,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for all of the books and the new carpet.
