Your contribution has allowed us to get new dry-erase markers for our classroom, and they are already transforming how my students learn.\r\n\r\nThe markers are part of a classroom approach called \"Building Thinking Classrooms,\" which focuses on getting students on their feet, collaborating, and thinking out loud. We have included critical thinking activities in every lesson that require students to work on the vertical whiteboards around the room. The markers are the essential tool that makes this all possible. My students are using them to work on complex problems in small, randomized groups, writing their ideas and solutions directly on the boards for everyone to see. Having only one marker per group encourages them to talk to each other and explain their thinking, rather than just working in isolation. My students are also able to compare different approaches from each group and discuss which methods are most efficient. Now, it feels less like a traditional math class and more like a creative problem-solving session. My students are not afraid to make a mistake anymore because they know they can just erase it and try again.\r\n\r\nWith your support we have been able to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment, and we are all incredibly grateful. We will continue to use the markers to make our thinking visible, build on each other's ideas, and deepen our understanding of the concepts. Thank you for supporting education in our community!","fullyFundedDate":1744033053854,"projectUrl":"project/markers-for-whiteboards/9210264/","projectTitle":"Markers for Whiteboards!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Z","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9923180"},{"teacherId":9923180,"projectId":9112786,"letterContent":"On behalf of my students at GHS, I want to extend a huge thank you for your generous donation. Your contribution allowed us to get a class set of scientific calculators for our students, and they've already made a significant impact on our daily learning.\r\n\r\nThese calculators are so much more than just a tool for simple calculations. They are helping my students learn to tackle more complex multi-step problems. They're able to quickly calculate square roots, trigonometric functions, and exponents, which frees up their mental energy to focus on understanding the underlying mathematical concepts. \r\n\r\n I've also noticed that some students who were initially hesitant about math have really taken to the new calculators. They've discovered that they can use the calculator's features to break down problems into smaller, more manageable steps.
