We are using items like the dry erase markers and big Post It presentation paper all day long. Other items are more task specific. Right now we are working through math units on money and decimals concurrently. This is a great opportunity to use our decimal and fraction tiles to help make more connections between the value of money and the symbolic representation of decmials to the 1/100ths. I also have students working on borrowing and carrying which have made good use of the base ten blocks and the place value discs. \r\n\r\nStudents are making great progress having intervention materials that are specific to their needs and standards they are learning. TPT provided excellent anchor charts for math vocabulary and steps, and also printable dot cards for improving number sense. Their faces lit up as we unpacked each item, from the soft fluorescent light covers to the calming waterfall and the cozy new lamps. It was a moment of shared joy and appreciation, and it immediately sparked conversations about how these items would help make our learning space feel more peaceful and inviting.\r\n\r\n Now, with the gentle sounds of the waterfall and the warm glow from the new lights, our classroom has been transformed into a calm retreat where students can focus and feel comfortable. The tea adds a special touch, encouraging mindfulness and connection during our quiet moments together. Students were really excited to use them and they made feet and meters much more meaningful!\r\n\r\nMeasurement can be tricky when you are in second grade. Many students do not have experience measuring things in feet and meters, and they are often asked to choose which measurement makes sense. For example, would you measure a table in inches or feet? Having direct, hands-on experience with feet and meters really helps students visualize and understand the concepts.\r\n\r\nWe measured the playground, the slide, the basketball court and the play structure.\r\nAll my students were involved and engaged in our math lessons when we used the wheels! Because of you, our TK students were introduced to a world of sound, rhythm, and joy through brand-new musical instruments.\r\n\r\nThe day the instruments arrived, the classroom was filled with wide eyes and even wider smiles. Many students had never seen or held real instruments before, and their excitement was infectious. One student picked up a tambourine and said, \"It sounds like magic!\"—and truly, that's how it felt for all of us.\r\n\r\nSince then, we've been incorporating the instruments into our daily routine. Whether it's singing the alphabet with accompanying rhythms, exploring tempo during circle time, or letting students create their own \"sound stories,\" the instruments have brought a whole new level of engagement to our learning. One of our favorite projects so far was creating a \"Feelings Symphony,\" where each student chose an instrument that matched how they felt that day—happy, sleepy, silly—and we made music together to express our emotions.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're excited to explore how music connects with storytelling, movement, and even math. Our next lesson will involve students \"composing\" simple rhythmic patterns using instruments to go along with familiar nursery rhymes. They're already asking if we can have a class band—and thanks to you, we can say yes!\r\n\r\nYour support has made a lasting impact not just on our curriculum, but on the joy and confidence of our young learners. Thank you for giving our students the gift of music.","fullyFundedDate":1733236530618,"projectUrl":"project/give-tk-students-musical-instruments/8885134/","projectTitle":"Give TK Students Musical Instruments!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lexi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9568395_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1718293322982","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9568395"},{"teacherId":9374289,"projectId":8783485,"letterContent":"My students are LOVING the stories that you enabled me to purchase with your donation.
