They were recognized daily for being respectful, responsible and safe verbally and then given a grizzly buck. They then decide if they'd place their grizzly buck in the school wide daily drawing or our very own classroom drawing. Many students said they always chose OUR classroom drawing because the exciting toys and treats you helped donate. \r\n\r\nSecondly, this school year I noticed a huge difference in their engagement during learning. When I was teaching they were consistently engaged in rigorous learning and always on task. They were even complimented by the Arizona Historian Steve Schumacher. He stated \"Your students were incredibly polite and genuinely interested in the story, as Michael read it. To me, it was amazing how many pertinent questions they asked. You have done a great job of creating curiosity in your students. It really showed in the questions and how many had their hands up throughout the session.\" In addition, they won a school wide contest for consistently having perfect attendance and having zero behavior reports. Also, they earned field trips to the Arizona Science Center and the Herberger Theatre. Overall, their academic learning growth was substantial which as a teacher means the world because they work so hard each day. \r\n\r\nAll in all, our donated materials contributed to their positive motivation and success this school year. They had the opportunity to learn about a science topic during classroom instruction, conduct hands on experiments and then read a donors funded book to reinforce their learning during their independent reading time. All of the books combined supported, strengthened and and engaged their learning during the entire school year. Because of all of their knowledge on science standards, we had a field trip to the Arizona Science Center to spend time exploring all of those learned concepts through science exhibits.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the having science topics in our library, they also spent time each Friday playing with the building toys that were donated. Many of our students checked these items out for free play and were able to spend time talking to their peers about what they wanted to build and then worked together to build their ideas. They were excited, engaged, and applying problem solving skills with their classmates. \r\n\r\nAll in all, thank you for donating to my project that was focused on science learning!
