My students were so happy when they saw the different packs of playdough.The different colors of playdough was used during our center times where they used the playdough to make letters during reading time, and they also used the playdough to make numbers during math time.They were so excited because our old playdough was dried out and it wasn't a really good thing to use.\r\nWhen my students first saw the little chairs they were so excited to see the different colored chairs. They were able to immediately go and sit in the chairs. Unlike the classroom chairs, they are a little bit larger, where the students don't have correct seating. But when you guys donated those colorful little stacking chairs, it was perfect for my center tables, they used them in their math centers. And they also used them in their reading centers. It was just a very good\r\nSeating arrangement for my students to have seats that were small and on their level.","fullyFundedDate":1758202724585,"projectUrl":"project/helping-our-kindergarten-class-grow/9690309/","projectTitle":"Helping Our Kindergarten Class Grow","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McFadden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9968320"},{"teacherId":9286729,"projectId":8024091,"letterContent":"The calming corner helped my students make better choices. We started state testing today and the teachers were so excited to have them for the students while testing. This donation has benefitted a lot of students. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 are able to use them during testing. The students love them too, they keep asking can they keep them. This donation has made a huge impact for our school. A purchase we would not have been able to make without this wonderful organization and caring donors like you. I'm grateful to be on the receiving end and these will be able to be used for next year as well. Again I am so appreciative.","fullyFundedDate":1739376314650,"projectUrl":"project/testing-needs-to-improve-performance/9063138/","projectTitle":"Testing Needs to Improve Performance","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. J.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/keshayla-johnson"},{"teacherId":9629379,"projectId":8897402,"letterContent":"The purpose of these new resources were to introduce my students to a fun sensory project that allowed them to learn and explore 3-dimensional art using their creativity. I had the coolest idea of allowing each student to create their very own cereal bowls! Unfortunately, my school does not have a kiln to fire clay so we are unable to make 3-dimensional art out of actual clay. The air dried clay (that was apart of the resources sent) gave the students a way to to learn about how clay works and how to create forms. I had each student decorate their bowls with the markers/paint of their choice and I used the spackle to create make believe milk in each individual paper bowl. \r\n\r\nThe students eyes' were lit across the room when they saw the materials! To this day, students have asked to create more cereal bowls!! This project was by far the most loved project of the school year. The students loved they were able to create something so unique to themselves. I saw the confidence in the room as the students used tools and different colored clay to unleash their creativity. I poked holes in each bowl and tied them with string so they were able to hang and show off their creations at home.\r\n\r\nI absolutely would love to implement this project when teaching students about 3-dimensional shapes and form next year. I would also love to take it a step further by allowing the students to create and design their own cereal boxes as well! We are truly grateful and blessed to have received the resources to make art fun and imaginative in the classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1735404697900,"projectUrl":"project/a-fun-imaginative-sensory-project-for/8897402/","projectTitle":"A Fun, Imaginative, Sensory Project for my Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pool","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9629379_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748401266507","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9629379"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_46102","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":390,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":85,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":74,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.2,"schoolId":46102,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Garden City Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Garden City Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/duval-county-public-schools/garden-city-elementary-school/46102"}
