Your kindness has made a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and has touched our school community in many important ways.\r\n\r\nFirst, your donations have allowed me to provide snacks during our house leadership meetings where our seventh and eighth grade leaders decide what our house group will do next, how we will serve and how we will become a stronger group. I strongly believe in the research that shows people are more willing to share ideas, collaborate, and communicate openly when food is part of the experience. These shared snacks have helped foster strong connections, thoughtful discussions, and creative ideas among our leadership team—and that sense of community has been invaluable.\r\n\r\nSecond, your support helped provide snacks for our team service projects. This year, our students hosted a Christmas party for our first graders and will soon host a graduation party for our fifth graders. These celebrations gave our eighth graders the opportunity not only to bring joy to others, but also to experience the joy that comes from serving—an incredibly important life lesson and character trait. The 1st graders had a blast, but it was the 8th graders whom I believe were changed. They were so touched and so excited to share joy. \r\n\r\nThird, your donations have been used as special surprise treats for our house members, bringing students together socially to enjoy time with one another over snacks. These moments help build relationships, strengthen community, and create positive memories within our school. These kids are having a great time just enjoying one another. \r\n\r\nFourth, the snacks have been used as classroom rewards to recognize hard work, teamwork, and success. Our students are highly motivated by these small but meaningful rewards. Because of your generosity, I have been able to recognize students all year without placing a financial burden on myself. The students feel appreciated, valued, and encouraged—and they continue to rise to high expectations.\r\n\r\nFifth, this year we are hosting a special poetry celebration called *Coffee Shop*, where students will share poetry they've written while sipping coffee or tea and enjoying light snacks. Your donations will help make this event possible, turning a classroom assignment into a memorable and confidence‑building experience.\r\n\r\nFinally—and most importantly—our school serves a low socioeconomic community. Because of your donations, I have never had to tell a student \"no\" when they tell me they are hungry. On multiple occasions, students who missed breakfast or were unable to add to their lunch account have come to me in need. I have been able to simply walk them to the cabinet and offer granola bars, applesauce, or both—no questions asked, no embarrassment, just care.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has truly helped nourish both bodies and minds. Thank you for believing in our students and for helping make our school a place where every child feels supported, valued, and cared for.","fullyFundedDate":1762267463793,"projectUrl":"project/full-tummies-to-fill-minds/9443518/","projectTitle":"Full Tummies to Fill Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Katcham","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1986983_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751480595740","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1986983"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44915","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":370,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":23,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":66,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":27,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.8,"schoolId":44915,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fort Loudon Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Fort Loudon Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/tennessee/loudon-county-school-district/ft-loudon-middle-school/44915"}
