The Picasso Painted Dots Rug quickly became a favorite spot for class discussions, small group collaboration, and reflection activities. It's created a comfortable, welcoming space where students feel relaxed and ready to engage in meaningful conversations.\r\n\r\nThe new organization tools like the rolling storage cart, file boxes, bookshelf, and supply caddies have completely changed how smoothly our class runs. Students know exactly where to find materials for projects, presentations, and labs, which saves time and keeps things running efficiently. They've really taken pride in keeping the classroom organized and professional, and it's helping them build real-world habits they'll use beyond high school.\r\n\r\nDuring our recent Personal Power and Success unit, students used the journals, pressed flower stickers, and bulletin board supplies to design personal vision pages that reflect their values, goals, and motivation. Their finished projects are now displayed around the room, making the space feel bright, creative, and truly theirs.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for making this transformation possible. Yet for many of my students, this is not the case. Before your support, several of them struggled to keep their notes organized because they lacked consistent materials. Some used scraps of paper, others tried to share with classmates, and a few went without entirely. This created barriers that went beyond organization.\r\n\r\nYour donation changed that. Students without a spiral notebook and or a pencil, were given one immediately. In the beginning of the semester, I happily announced our plans and told them that grants and donations made it possible for us to offer this and the special gifts at no cost for the students. In the weeks before our trip to the mountains, the donations started to arrive. The students would see me carrying or wheeling boxes to my office and ask me what I had in store for our field trip day. I had told them that we had some surprises for the students who decided to join us, but I had not told them all the specifics. Their curiosity for the items and for the experience was visible in their questions and their smiles. \r\n\r\nOur excursion to the mountains was the perfect experience in the middle of the Spring semester. Luckily, we happened to have amazing weather, and everyone was happy to have some fresh air. Before heading to the mountains, the students had a lot of questions about what we would do and see. We spent weeks learning about the 7 principals of Leave No Trace, and we had already learned about animals that are native to Colorado. Thus, when we were ready to go, we heard comments from the students about wanting to hike to the top of the mountain or touch the water in the reservoir for the first time since they arrived here- clearly, this was going to be an exciting new experience for them. With the money from the donors at Donor's Choose, we were able to provide every student with a small pack filled with items that are essential to safety and wellness in the Colorado outdoors. During the bus ride to the mountains, we heard teens talking about their previous experiences or non-experiences in hiking and camping, and we saw them digging through their backpacks to see all the items that they had received; sometimes even exchanging the color of their water bottle and chapstick tubes. While on the trip, we had them take notes about the different animals and rocks that they learned about from the volunteer guides who helped us there. As chaperones, we were all pleasantly surprised at how well and willingly the students engaged with the elderly tour guide volunteers and really showed respect for their knowledge by asking inquiring questions and listening closely to try to understand. \r\n\r\nAfter the guided tour, the students were already discussing and planning wishfully for their next visit. Some asked to use the last few minutes to run up to the crest and gaze upon the reservoir one more time. We all returned to school that afternoon with smiles on our faces and a sense of wonder at the natural beauty that we live so near to. We have some ideas of how to make this experience better and more impactful this coming Spring 2026, and we hope that Donors will help us make this special for students again!","fullyFundedDate":1740239824904,"projectUrl":"project/lets-show-them-the-beauty-of-their-new/9087638/","projectTitle":"Let's Show Them the Beauty of Their New Home","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thorson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9792184"},{"teacherId":9259027,"projectId":9137476,"letterContent":"Thank you for making a difference in the lives of my students! The new tape measures have been a game changer—each student now has their own, which means no more sharing broken ones or waiting for a turn. We begin the quarter learning how to accurately measure, and by the end, students are applying those skills to real-world projects. One of the most exciting projects is the stair build, where students use a framing square and 2x12s to construct three stair stringers. It's a challenging task with a lot of math involved, but seeing the actual stairs come together after solving the math problems gives students a huge sense of accomplishment and pride.\r\nWe've also been using the trim router for several smaller projects like cutting boards and other small furniture. The ease of adjusting the router and swapping bits has not only made the process smoother but has noticeably improved the quality of the final products. When students first saw the new tools, they were thrilled—especially knowing they wouldn't have to share broken tape measures anymore. It's made class more efficient and ensures that every student gets hands-on practice. Looking ahead, students in my intro to construction course will continue learning a wide range of skills. Over 8-10 weeks, they'll build model houses, personal stools, mini and full-sized walls, stairs, planter boxes, tables, benches, chairs and pour concrete. Each student also earns an OSHA-10 certification. This year alone, we had about 125 students complete the course—and next year, we're already signed up for over 200! Thanks to these new tools, we're better equipped than ever to give students the skills and confidence they need to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1733233961838,"projectUrl":"project/carpentry-skills/8600652/","projectTitle":"Carpentry Skills","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Kruglet","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9241893"},{"teacherId":9245602,"projectId":8852346,"letterContent":"On behalf of me, my peers, and our Choir Leadership Team, I wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you for your generous donation of the board games. It's a unique way to bond outside of typical classroom activities, and it's making a noticeable difference in how we all connect.\r\nThe reaction from the students has been incredible—especially when we saw the Anomia Party Pack!!! It has allowed me to really lean into project-based learning and let kids demonstrate their learning in ways that they are unique and different. \r\n\r\nAdditionally, the games that were purchased with this donation have allowed students to more effectively and authentically build relationships with their peers and create a more inclusive and supportive classroom culture.
