By supplying my classroom with these novels you have enriched my learners' with unique opportunities to read new stories that teach powerful messages. Aside from learning new lessons and skills from the book, they can also form their own connections with the text by relating it to their own lives. This helps them read on a deeper level. \r\n\r\nBy having a class set of books, I can ensure that everyone has their own copy of the story to read at school or at home. We often read as a whole group, in small groups, or independently. Sometimes we read books at our seats, or we use flexible seating options to find a cozy spot around the room to read. This movement and freedom can often increase students' reading motivation. \r\n\r\nThis specific story can encourage acceptance and can help build a sense of classroom community. Students can learn how to accept others for their differences and how to be proud of their own uniqueness.
