Students regularly come to class early to try and get assigned the roofing job since they enjoy it so much! Each student has their own toolbelt and hammer now, reducing the times when they are unequiped and the care they have taken with these tools. Our old hammers have started breaking (many were craft hammers, not construction hammers) so the new ones have been even more valuable!\r\n\r\nWith your support we are not only teaching trades skills, we have built a self sustaining program that promotes our program and provides material for younger grades. We would still be building without your support, but students would have been frustrated and our supplies would be dwindling. Communication therapy can take many forms, from the traditional roles of the \"speech teacher\" who focuses on clear articulation and intelligibility to the cognitive communication therapy that focuses on working to understand the expectations of the society around us so that our neurodivergent learners (primarily our students with Autism and ADHD) are better able to safely and successfully navigate the world we all share. This spectrum of intervention opportunity also includes assistive, augmentative, and alternative communication (AAC). All of these intervention techniques have proven to be even more successful when measuring our student outcomes in the most recent 9-week progress monitoring cycle through the use of the iPads provided through your generous donation. Using technology to model more successful communication for our AAC users, to expand utterances for our three-year-old students in preschool, to allow for video modeling for our neurodivergent learners, and to offer self-directed video and audio feedback for students with needs in the area of articulation. Ahmed, et al, (2018) noted that \"positive responses towards speech-controlled games (i.e. technology in the intervention setting) suggest that they can engage children in higher intensity practice.\" This increase in the intensity of the intervention, combined with the ability to self-reflect with guidance, allowed students, particularly elementary students working with /s/ and /r/ sounds, to increase their growth from baseline toward their goals by just more than 10% more in the second quarter with the use of technology than in the first.\r\n\r\nWithout the support of Donors Choose and the office of Governor Polis, this would not have been possible.\r\n\r\nThanks,\r\n\r\nThomas McCause M.S.
