Tissues, paper towels, wipes, and magic erasers may seem like they are just basic supplies, but they are really much more than that. These supplies help me teach students a basic, but very important skill - taking care of yourself and your environment. \r\n\r\nWe have breakfast in the classroom every morning. Each morning a student will count how many students are present and set out that number of paper towels. During breakfast students are learning to independently open their milk cartons - spills happen. Instead of crying about it, my students have learning that accidents happen and to just take their towel and wipe it up. If it's a big spill, I often see another child helping. These are important life skills.\r\n\r\nOther ways we use the supplies:\r\nStudents get a wipe to clean their mat before putting it away each day.\r\nIf crayon gets on the table, they use the magic eraser to clean it.\r\nWhen they need to blow their nose, they go get a tissue (followed by hand sanitizer).\r\nWhen someone tracks dirt on the carpet, I can spray it after school and vacuum it up the next morning.\r\n\r\nI cannot express how grateful I am to you for making these supplies readily available in my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1756574848964,"projectUrl":"project/keep-it-clean/9470326/","projectTitle":"Keep it Clean!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nolan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3629160_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1498271997073","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3629160"},{"teacherId":3629160,"projectId":9196012,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping the students in our school experience the butterfly life cycle. Your generosity provided each classroom a butterfly kit that gave students an unforgettable hands-on learning experience. They watched the caterpillars eat, grow, spin into their chrysalis stage, and emerge as butterflies. \r\n\r\nThis project supported multidisciplinary learning. Some classrooms used a voting process to name their new friends (social studies). Students journaled their observations (language arts), measured and charted the growth of the caterpillars (math), made predictions and learned they butterfly life cycle (science), and even our youngest students enjoyed counting them and watched how the caterpillars moved. Students also listened to or read many fiction and non-fiction books with a butterfly theme (language arts).\r\n\r\nThe school buzzed with excitement when the butterflies began to emerge from the chrysalis stage. Students paid close attention to the weather waiting for a warm, dry day when we could celebrate with a butterfly release party.","fullyFundedDate":1742909749725,"projectUrl":"project/butterflies-throughout-the-school/9196012/","projectTitle":"Butterflies Throughout the School","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nolan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3629160_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1498271997073","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3629160"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_78023","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":132,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":87,"percentWhite":5,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"6.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":56.4,"schoolId":78023,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Froebel Literacy Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Froebel Literacy Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/missouri/st-louis-public-schools/froebel-elementary-school/78023"}
