One especially meaningful moment was seeing students confidently head outside, knowing they were prepared and protected from the winter weather.\r\n\r\nWhen the hats and gloves arrived, my students were so excited and grateful. Many immediately tried them on, smiling and thanking me over and over. Some students shared that they didn't have winter gear at home, so receiving these items made them feel cared for and included. It was heartwarming to see how something so practical could bring such joy and reassurance to our classroom.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, my students can now fully participate in outdoor activities and daily routines without discomfort or distraction. Children use the write and wipe books to keep themselves engaged in a fine motor control activity when they have extra time between transitions. Children enjoy having something to work on instead of wait for classmates to catch up in the routine.\r\nThe board games are wonderful for small group times. Children learn how to play by rules, take turns, and work together for a common goal. Children help each other and cheer each other on while waiting their turns. We have seen them transfer these skills into other parts of the day. For example, when they're waiting for a turn to use a toy they want. They have much more patience or are able to cooperatively play with other children to share a toy. Children also cheer each other on and notice each other's accomplishments while in large group or playing outdoors. \r\nWe have noticed our students making great gains academically and socially this school year. The Behavior Buddies set was exactly what we needed to be able to make desired actions/reactions relatable for such young learners. Children have a deeper understanding of what it means to be responsible and respectful and are doing their best to emulate and communicate with each other. Having a concrete representation for children of this age is essential. Children enjoy being able to have the stuffed animals to sleep with at nap time. They get to sleep with the animal that represents the behavior they have been working the hardest to improve in. \r\nThe comfy furniture and fidget toys help children find peace and calm when they need a moment to calm and regulate. Children already loved using Magnatiles and Hot Wheels tracks, but the addition of the hex bugs and track extenders/splitters allowed their creativity to climb into a completely different direction. Children that had more natural ability to use the materials were so encouraging and helpful to those that needed a little coaching and support. Children even figured out how they could race Hex Bugs on Hot Wheels tracks!\r\nThe architecture set was a big hit during our fairy tale studies. Children would often cross themes by using props and toys from different areas of the room to create structures and houses to tell their own stories. \r\nWe were able to use the arctic animal resources to have a very in depth study of animals in this habitat. Long after the study was done children continued to play with the toys frequently and compare and contrast them to animals of new environments that we learned about. \r\nThe science viewers were enjoyed when we learned about different types of animals and life cycles. A project such as this makes such a profound impact in our ability to create the perfect home/school/family environment. As you can see from the photos our dresser is fully stocked and quite obviously in use! Having fresh clothes for accidents is essential to having a smooth sailing school day.\r\n\r\nFor our students this means that if they get full invested in a construction, dramatic play, art project, or book and wait too long to get to the bathroom and have an accident we can provide them a quick and easy way to get back to their day. With the dresser in the bathroom we can easily have a child back to their day in a matter of minutes and with out embarrassment of the whole class knowing. Sometimes when you work hard all day you sleep hard at naptime. In those moments accidents can occur. And in those moments when you have everything you need to get freshened up, it's no big deal!\r\n\r\nWe have already put this resource to good use. One of our friends was struck by a stomach bug and we in desperate need of clean clothes. Something that would have been traumatic for me, was able to be handled so easily and the child was able to move past the moment with out shame or embarrassment. \r\n\r\nFor our parents it means no phone calls interrupting work because of an accident. Children bring a change of clothes at the beginning of the year, but sometimes they get used and not replenished.
