Through hands-on budgeting activities, they have gained a deeper understanding of the value of money and the importance of financial decision-making. Many of them entered the project with little awareness of how quickly small expenses add up, but they now see how careful planning allows them to take control of their finances rather than feel controlled by them.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful outcomes has been their excitement about savings challenges. Students have begun setting aside money consistently and talking about their personal financial goals with enthusiasm. They are learning that financial security is built through discipline and intentional choices, and they are motivated by the idea of not having to worry day-to-day about meeting basic needs such as food or transportation. This shift in mindset shows me that they are not just learning about budgeting—they are internalizing habits that will serve them for a lifetime.\r\n\r\nPerhaps most importantly, my students now recognize that every dollar has value. They understand that wise budgeting is not about restriction, but about empowerment and preparation for the future. By practicing how to save, spend, and plan responsibly, they are developing the skills to avoid unnecessary financial stress and to create opportunities for themselves and their families. I am proud of how much they have grown, and I am confident that these lessons will carry forward into their adult lives.","fullyFundedDate":1736209774740,"projectUrl":"project/drs-bugeting-teens/8798394/","projectTitle":"DRS Bugeting Teens","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Marshall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9362275"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_47453","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":519,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":93,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":81.5,"schoolId":47453,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Florida A&M University Developmental Research School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Florida A&M University Developmental Research School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/florida-department-of-education/florida-a-m-development-research-school/47453"}
