We've been using tools like bike pedals, fidgets, and manipulatives during our small group lessons—especially when students are working on test-taking practice, writing assignments, and challenging intervention activities. These tools make learning more hands-on and sensory-rich, which has noticeably improved focus, retention, and overall engagement. One of my favorite moments has been watching students independently choose the tool that helps them stay grounded and ready to learn, whether it's pedaling while writing or using a fidget to stay calm during a challenging task. \r\nWhen my students first saw the cart filled with all the new learning tools, they were so excited, and continue to be. They immediately explored each option, eager to find what would support them best. The checklists, self-monitoring tools, and different response choices have been especially transformative. These resources have empowered my students to take real ownership of their learning and the accommodations they need. It has been inspiring to watch them advocate for themselves, make thoughtful decisions, and feel proud of the strategies that help them succeed.\r\nAs we continue our current lessons and intervention cycles, these tools will support students in building independence, confidence, and stronger academic habits. The next steps involve helping students track their progress, reflect on the strategies that work best for them, and continue using these supports during longer, more demanding learning tasks.
