Before, our percussion lessons were filled with background noise, limited equipment, and a lot of waiting for turns. Thanks to your generosity, each drummer now has their very own practice pad, which allows us to rehearse rhythms simultaneously, improve stick control, and focus on precision without disturbing nearby classes. \r\n\r\nThe moment I passed out the pads, students instantly started tapping patterns, comparing rolls, and showing off their new coordination. One 8th grader said, 'Now we sound like a real drumline, even when we're silent!' It was a truly proud teacher moment to witness their confidence grow from the very first session. The classroom energy shifted from chaotic to collaborative; scholars listened more, encouraged each other, and began leading peer-led rhythm challenges. \r\n\r\nThese practice pads have transformed our percussion program from a noisy and inconsistent one to a disciplined and focused one. My drummers are learning that rhythm is not just about sound; it's about teamwork, timing, and self-control. This project has amplified their sense of belonging and pride as musicians. Thank you for believing in their potential and for keeping the beat alive at Flagship Charter Academy.","fullyFundedDate":1757071658945,"projectUrl":"project/silent-beats-empowering-middle-school-d/9539786/","projectTitle":"Silent Beats: Empowering Middle School Drummers With Practice Pads","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. LJ","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9807364_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1729194473789","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-lj-music"},{"teacherId":9807364,"projectId":9491740,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, our classroom is filled with music, laughter, and pride. They couldn't wait to choose a different type of hand percussion instrument and show what they could do! We have been using hand percussion instruments to learn rhythm and work together as a team. \r\n\r\nStudents are currently preparing to play an entire ensemble using these hand percussion instruments.
