Their faces lit up with curiosity, and they were filled with questions and creative ideas about all the different activities we could do now that we had designated workspace. The new setup instantly sparked their enthusiasm, giving them a sense of ownership and excitement about our sessions. It has already become a favorite spot where students feel comfortable and eager to participate.\r\n\r\nSince these items have arrived, students are also learning responsibility by cleaning up their workspace at the table and stacking their stools before leaving. The addition of a proper workspace has allowed us to do more structured activities, such as worksheets, which provide another meaningful way to explore and practice social-emotional skills. Having the opportunity to work at a desk has noticeably improved their focus, attention, and participation during sessions, making our time together even more productive and engaging.\r\n\r\nHaving access to new activities (like the emotions mirrors) and new incentives (like the special pencils) has instilled a new sense of curiosity and excitement in coming to social work sessions. For that, I am so happy! I love that my students are wanting to learn and talk about emotions and behaviors and all things SEL. Because of your kindness, our 4th grade classroom is now equipped with a new document camera that also functions as a microscope—and it has already become an invaluable tool in our daily learning.\r\nThe students were immediately excited to use the camera, and its impact has been felt across multiple subjects. We've used it for student presentations, which has helped build confidence and public speaking skills. It's also played a key role in our review sessions for state testing, allowing us to work through problems together as a class in real time.\r\nOne of the most exciting and unexpected uses came when a tick hitched a ride into our classroom after recess. We placed it under the microscope, and the students were absolutely fascinated—turning a surprise moment into a hands-on science lesson they won't soon forget! Since then, we've been examining all kinds of tiny objects and insects, sparking curiosity and deeper engagement in science.\r\nYour donation has truly made a difference. You've helped bring learning to life in our classroom, and we are so grateful for your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1737219268130,"projectUrl":"project/clear-and-focused-helps-us-get-a-new-do/9019550/","projectTitle":"Clear and Focused: Helps Us Get a New Document Camera","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Samuels","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9091189_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1688501731780","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mr-samuels"},{"teacherId":9853530,"projectId":9004898,"letterContent":"I am so thankful for the books we received and the impact it has made on the social-emotional lessons I provide. I use the books in sessions to introduce different themes. For example, if we're going to start learning skills to be a kind friend, I'll read \"a little spot of kindness\" first before diving deeper into the lesson. My students in 3rd grade particularly love the books. By 3rd grade they no longer get to experience read aloud times in the classroom so I'm able to still provide that experience to them. The workbooks have also provided great resources and activities to go along with lessons. Before receiving these resources, I would reuse a lot of lessons/activities, which became more of a challenge when working with students for longer periods. Now they have new, engaging activities!","fullyFundedDate":1735532606785,"projectUrl":"project/empathy-in-action-empowering-sped-stude/9004898/","projectTitle":"Empathy in Action: Empowering SPED Students with Emotional Language","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kelly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9853530_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733774114497","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9853530"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_61085","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":503,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":94,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":45,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":51,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":76.8,"schoolId":61085,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fennville Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Fennville Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/fennville-public-school-district/fennville-elementary-school/61085"}
