I'm moving from room to room every day, but I can now bring those things with me to help students remain focused and calm while learning. I used them during a science lesson this week, and it was amazing to watch students settle in so quickly with something that helped them manage their energy. One student who often struggles to remain focused in class was engaged the entire period simply by having something that he could manipulate while he worked. Moments like that make me so appreciative of what those supplies allow me to do. \r\n\r\nThe students' responses were worth a million bucks. The minute I opened the container of new tools and told them these were for them to utilize when they needed help focusing, or calming down, those faces lit up. A few students asked if they could use them right away. I could see the shift in them when they did. They felt excited about the new support. They felt like they finally had something that worked for them. Seeing their excitement took an average class period and turned it into something really special.\r\n\r\nWith these resources available, the students are figuring out how to choose the tool that helps them most, and I support them in building confidence by providing strategies to help them stay in class and engaged in their learning. These tools will follow them into the group's activities, independent reading, to test as we learn what works best for each child. Thank you for providing the students with the tools they need to engage confidently and enthusiastically with their learning.
