As our requested items came in, we did a special \"unveiling\" of each one. The kids were thrilled to see the new engaging materials that were selected just for them! Since the pandemic, teachers have had to find creative ways to engage students in collaborative work. This seemed to be a missing piece that kids would have had experience with at a younger age but we are now supporting them in what working with others looks and feels like. Our new classroom materials have done a great job bridging that gap and helping kids feel empowered, engaged, and excited to learn.\r\n\r\nThere are many specific ways that each item has helped. For example, the Lego, TOMYU, STEM Explorer Pixels and Bridge building sets have provided a space for students to engage in collaborative and explorative work as they build & create. They have to communicate about their projects and how they will work together. It's been fun to see their brains in motion and how coming together has made their work even stronger! The AILIHEN Headphones have been helpful in capturing students verbal responses to their learning. They are able to record and post on Seesaw (our classroom platform) to share their learning with me and their families. It's fun to be able to connect with our families & give them a personal peek into our classroom. \r\n\r\nA really popular item has been the Wireless Eggspert system. We use it in small reading group and in classroom collaborative teams to review our learning across all content areas. This is a highly requested activity that keeps them engaged and gives me an idea of what they know and what I need to reteach. Another way my kids have increased engagement is through the balance balls and other flexible seating I offer in my class. Each day the opportunity to use the balance balls rotates and is always met with enthusiasm if they get picked!\r\n\r\nSomething that I have really enjoyed watching my students explore is the Kinetic Sand. There is something magical about the texture and ability to create that provides such calm & sweet interaction between my students. As a teacher, there is no better sound! Lastly, we have read 'Kindness is My Jam' multiple times. Kindness is the powerful thread that holds my classroom together and makes kids want to come to school each day. I work very hard to create a classroom community where all kids feel welcome and feel that their contributions matter. YOUR kindness made the difference!","fullyFundedDate":1727463003548,"projectUrl":"project/energize-and-engagement-for-everyone/8577096/","projectTitle":"Energize and Engagement for Everyone!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Higgins","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9256562"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_70812","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":520,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":25,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":65,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":24,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"18.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":70.0,"schoolId":70812,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fall River Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Fall River Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/st-vrain-valley-school-district-re-1j/fall-river-elementary-school/70812"}
