We've incorporated them into our daily routine, ensuring that everyone stays warm and cozy during outdoor playtime. This has not only boosted their physical comfort but also their enthusiasm for learning.\r\n\r\nOne specific project that showcased the impact of your donation was our \"Winter Wonderland\" art activity. With their new hats and gloves, students were inspired to create vibrant winter landscapes, complete with snowflakes, snowmen, and cozy winter scenes. The excitement and creativity in the room were palpable!\r\n\r\nOne student, in particular, was thrilled to wear his new hat and gloves while creating his artwork. They were so excited to have their very own workbook to showcase their work. Parents also loved that they could collaborate with teachers to help their children learn to read and write the alphabet. We worked on one alphabet a day, improving scholar's pencil control. Tracing the letters also helped scholars with pencil control as they worked to stay on the lines and while writing the letters freehand. As scholars traced and wrote letters, we made a chant for each letter making it a fun activity. Scholars were able to associate each letter with a picture making it easier to remember. They loved coloring the pictures. It actually gave them something to look forward to after tracing and writing the letters. Scholars took their workbook home each day & parents could see how well they were doing and work with them at home to further strengthen their writing skills. Parents could provide feedback to us and together we worked with scholars to learn the alphabet. Through this experience, scholars have learned the alphabet and are able to recognize and write their letters. They have better pencil control and writing skills. Understanding letters have also helped them learn letter sounds and we are working on rhyming words and forming short words like cat, had, and do. And the best part is they got a certificate at the end of the workbook. We presented the certificates to them on awards day and seeing their little faces light up is unexplainable. We will continue to grow as a class, and they will be well prepared as they get ready to move up to kindergarten.","fullyFundedDate":1733334641001,"projectUrl":"project/workbook-to-increase-writing-reading-c/8981421/","projectTitle":"Workbook to Increase Writing & Reading Comprehension","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Peterson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9473493_orig.jpg?crop=1440,1440,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1708435957066","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mdpeterson"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2771","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":418,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":8,"percentBlack":53,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":29,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":69.0,"schoolId":2771,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fairview Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Fairview Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/guilford-county-schools/fairview-elementary-school/2771"}
