Now, my students have clearly defined, comfortable spaces to sit when we come together as a class. Each morning, we begin our day on the carpet for Morning Meeting. We greet one another, share stories, and build the strong classroom community that helps students feel safe and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThroughout the day, the carpet becomes the heart of our classroom. We use it for daily lessons, strategy shares, number talks, and read-alouds. During these moments, I can see every face, and every student has a space where they belong. The bright, inviting colors make our room feel warm and welcoming. It truly sets the tone for joyful learning.\r\n\r\nThe carpet also supports collaboration. Students gather there for book clubs, small group discussions, and partner math and literacy games. They solve problems together, practice reading fluency, and build confidence while sitting side-by-side. It has become a place where friendships grow and ideas are shared. We have had a lot of indoor recess this year due to weather challenges, and the carpet is the number one spot students gather to play and create!\r\n\r\nWhat might seem like \"just a carpet\" is actually the foundation of our classroom community. It is where we start our mornings, work through challenges, celebrate successes, and end each day in Closing Circle. It is where students feel seen, heard, and connected.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students a space that is bright, inviting, and truly theirs.
