Providing these books for my students means so much to us. \r\n\r\nThe school has a lot of newcomers that are learning english. Having books available from them that is used in curriculum and just so they are some free read time is huge. They are able to pick up the love of reading and truly be able to follow along better with the whole class. When I showed the students the translated books, their faces lit up. \r\n\r\nNot only were my Spanish speaking excited for the book donations, but the rest of the class was. They have so much to choose from now! They were estatic about the Percy Jackson books and all the graphic novels. This is how we spark that love of reading in students. Give them the opportunity to read what they enjoy. Having this variety is going to spark that in these students.\r\n\r\nHavIng the calm stickers are extremely helpful during testing, especially state testing. Many students were rubbing or scratching at them during our testing and it truly helped them stay focused on those tests!\r\n\r\nThere are some feet kickers while sitting in the class. Have the bands on the chairs allow the students to kick their feet without causing distraction. It also helps them with focusing on the lesson or what they are to be working on. \r\n\r\nThank you from the bottom of our hearts! My students and I truly appreciate the donations and will cherish it always!","fullyFundedDate":1742939670488,"projectUrl":"project/diversity-in-reading/8991629/","projectTitle":"Diversity in Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Grimes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9525237_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714758750932","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9525237"},{"teacherId":9907697,"projectId":9080260,"letterContent":"The donation of soccer nets and soccer balls had a powerful and immediate impact on our middle school students. As soon as the equipment arrived, the excitement was noticeable, students couldn't wait to get outside and start playing. For many of our kids, this was the first time they had access to real soccer goals, which completely transformed the way they played and engaged with the sport.\r\n\r\nHaving proper equipment not only made games more structured and fun, but it also brought students together in new ways. We saw more teamwork, better sportsmanship, and a sense of shared responsibility as they took turns, organized games, and even made up new rules and challenges. The field became a space of joy, inclusion, and healthy competition.\r\n\r\nBeyond just physical activity, these donations gave students an emotional boost. It showed them that others care about their well-being and want to support their growth. For many of our students, who come from underserved communities, this kind of support makes a lasting impression. It builds confidence, encourages leadership, and gives them something to look forward to every day.","fullyFundedDate":1739726557993,"projectUrl":"project/kick-start-our-soccer-team/9080260/","projectTitle":"Kick Start Our Soccer Team!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Soto","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9907697"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_105288","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":67,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":82.7,"schoolId":105288,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Extera Public Charter School 1 Annex on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Extera Public Charter School 1 Annex","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/extera-public-charter-school-1-annex/105288"}
