On long days, during difficult tasks, in the middle of a challenging task, students held the plushies on their laps or in their arms. Seeing them build a bond with their favorite plushie was so sweet, and it was great to see some of them way more regulated. Some students were also able to stay seated and sustain focus for much longer. The plushies were especially favored by our boys.\r\n\r\nOur plushies got so much love that they had to undergo surgery in our textile design class. Students love having a place to store healthy food during the day and to heat up food from home. This improves their physical and mental health and helps them focus better in their classes. My advisory decided to name him Gerald and he was so popular that I invested in two other weighted stuffies named Stevie and Rosie. Thanks to your kindness, my students have been thoroughly enjoying the new games, which have brought both fun and meaningful connections into our classroom. These games have provided us with a wonderful opportunity to spend time together, decompress, and strengthen our bonds as a community. It's been heartwarming to see my students choosing to engage with each other face-to-face, setting aside phones and devices. Additionally, we've sharpened our minds by learning new rules and strategies along the way.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting developments is how these games have inspired creativity among my students. Recently, they've been taking turns designing and leading discussion circles. After completing their presentations, many eagerly select a game for the class to enjoy together. The enthusiasm doesn't stop there—several students have even started brainstorming ideas to create their own games.\r\n\r\nBeyond the joy of play, your generosity has had an even broader impact. The practical items you provided, such as band-aids, feminine products, and fidget toys, have supported students across all grades and classes. With simply a bookshelf, some games, puzzles, and snacks, my kids look forward to crew time where they can have a granola bar and relax while competing against each other to finish a Rubik's cube, or play a game of Uno against one another. With my portable chair I can now sit facing them or use the chair as a table for Uno games. The simple addition of a flexible chair makes it so that we can have circle conversations without anyone awkwardly trying to face backwards in a bolted down theater seat. \r\n\r\nMy crew also had an oddly good time assembling the shelf and organizing the materials. Nesting is an activity that is so often taken for granted when inviting students to inhabit a space.
