The 3D printer, sewing machine, Cricut, and materials you provided have been central to our Steady Hands / Española Gloveworks Project, where students are designing and producing gloves to help reduce tremors for individuals with Parkinson's Disease.\r\n\r\nAfter several design iterations, I'm proud to share that we have successfully completed and delivered 10 pairs of tremor-reducing gloves—to both local patients and individuals in other states. Each pair is a testament to student collaboration, resilience, and the belief that STEM can truly make a difference.\r\n\r\nOne unforgettable moment was when the materials first arrived. As students unboxed the equipment, they couldn't believe their eyes. They gathered around it in awe—it felt like magic. That initial wonder quickly turned into action. They began sketching, prototyping, and testing their ideas, all while learning hands-on about circuitry, motor control, and biomedical design. They weren't just working on a school project—they were solving a real-world challenge that deeply matters.\r\n\r\nCurrently, students are refining the glove design for greater comfort and effectiveness. They're analyzing user feedback and exploring upgrades like sensors and wireless functionality. We're also working on documentation and tutorials to help others replicate our process, with the hope of expanding the impact even further.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students now see themselves as problem-solvers, designers, and changemakers. Thank you for believing in their potential and supporting a project that's not just about learning—it's about changing lives.","fullyFundedDate":1723997702992,"projectUrl":"project/steady-hands-gloves-that-reduce-tremor/8556887/","projectTitle":"\"Steady Hands Gloves\" that Reduce Tremors of Parkinson's Disease Patients.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Janice Patal-e","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5913206_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y772&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720029798693","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5913206"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82740","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":814,"numTeachers":47,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":8,"percentLatinx":86,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"17.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":51.4,"schoolId":82740,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Espanola Valley High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Espanola Valley High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-mexico/espanola-public-school-district-55/espanola-valley-high-school/82740"}
