Having this flag at our school will be a daily reminder of the sacrifices others give for their freedom and right to live how we do. In the past years, during graduation, staff were scrambling to find a flag to have in the gym during the ceremony. Due to your donation we now have a flag onsite daily and access for graduations for years to come. I was able to also get the engraving donated for your message from Kasson Laser Graphics to keep the memory of this donation for years to come. \r\n\r\nThe flag is posted in the hall for students, staff, and families to see. I hope this brings pride especially on this day as we celebrate our Veterans who give so much to support our freedom.","fullyFundedDate":1761680431868,"projectUrl":"project/proudly-we-wave/9860690/","projectTitle":"Proudly We Wave","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. P or Amy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10333719"},{"teacherId":9845700,"projectId":9031788,"letterContent":"Thank you dearly for your contributions to my classroom snack supply. The smiles that it brings to my students who cannot afford the school-run snack store when they know they will get to have something to eat in the afternoon when their peers are purchasing treats makes it all worth it. Not only are students getting to feel socially included in this time, but they are also taking care of their bodies with healthy food that allows them to be their best selves.\r\n\r\nToday, a student came in during my prep hour and asked for a snack. He is a new student to our school and has not been very social. Coming to get a snack was a great catalyst for us to have a conversation outside of the context of learning material and checking grades. We were able to build trust and that is because this student knew he could come to me for a resource he needed. \r\n\r\nThank you for being a part of bringing my students together and supporting them in taking care of their bodies and minds.","fullyFundedDate":1738079621118,"projectUrl":"project/student-snack-cabinet/9031788/","projectTitle":"Student Snack Cabinet","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Holmes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9845700_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732287349961","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9845700"},{"teacherId":9778952,"projectId":8823407,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for choosing our students to help with multiple projects over the past few weeks. Our students were so excited to be able to give back to the school community and take pride in their recovery. We hosted a Red Ribbon week for the whole school to spark conversations about substance use prevention and what it means to be in recovery. That week we greeted students during lunch and handed out red ribbon week bracelets, pencils, journals, stickers, and snacks. Each student that we engaged with took the opportunity to talk about what it means to be in recovery and how we can support the whole school in substance use prevention. We had dress up days and went into classrooms to talk about the chemical health resources in the building and teaching students different coping skills to help them reduce substance use. We also tied red ribbons around the school to show our support in substance use prevention. \r\n.\r\nOur students also did a mental health and substance use group for 10 weeks and used the journals to write down their thoughts and keep track of new coping skills that they can utilize and take with them. They also decorated their journals with the stickers that were provided. \r\n.\r\nWe hosted a baking group where we talked about prevention, intervention, and education on substance use and mental health. During that time, they also learned how to bake goodies that they shared with school staff (and of course treated themselves to some for their hard work). This was a fun and interactive way to talk about mental health and substance use and relate it to a fun topic like baking. \r\n.\r\nWe will continue these activities as we found great success. Thank you again for allowing us this amazing opportunity!","fullyFundedDate":1727651994538,"projectUrl":"project/red-ribbon-campaign-substance-use-prev/8823407/","projectTitle":"Red Ribbon Campaign & Substance Use Prevention","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fuchs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9778952"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_62279","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":396,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":23,"percentWhite":33,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":28,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":62279,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Rochester Alternative Learning Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Rochester Alternative Learning Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/rochester-public-schools-isd-535/esc-area-learning-center/62279"}
