One student stated \"Thank you for caring about us.\" They know that people who do not know them care whether they have enough to eat. Because of your generosity, our students now have the everyday tools that keep learning moving—music stands for group practice, guitar picks that fit a range of hands, and fresh strings that keep our instruments playable. These resources are already in constant use. Students are rotating through small-group rehearsals, working on chord progressions, rhythm parts, and ensemble skills without having to stop or adapt around missing materials. One of the most meaningful changes has been how seamlessly we can move from exploration to performance—when a string breaks or a student needs a different pick, the music doesn't have to stop.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, there was a mix of excitement and relief. Several commented on how \"official\" the room felt, and others were visibly more confident knowing they could fully participate without worrying about what they didn't have at home. For many of our students, school is the only place they have access to instruments, and having well-maintained, ready-to-use supplies sends a powerful message: their music matters, and their effort is worth supporting.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our next steps include deeper ensemble work and preparing students to perform with confidence—listening to one another, adjusting in real time, and taking creative risks. The floor hockey goal has made indoor hockey lessons more engaging, helping students build teamwork, strategy, and hand-eye coordination. The yoga mats, resistance bands, and foam rollers are now part of our fitness and flexibility units, where students practice stretching, core exercises, and mindful movement. One fun moment was when a group created a \"team strength challenge\" using the resistance bands, cheering each other on as they completed the exercises together.\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were thrilled! Their faces lit up at the colorful playground balls, jump ropes, and yoga mats, and many couldn't wait to try them. Activities like yoga flows and floor hockey drills immediately became favorites, and the excitement in the classroom made our lessons even more engaging.\r\nNext, we will be rotating students through stations that combine the new equipment with our current fitness and teamwork lessons. They will practice yoga and flexibility exercises, strength challenges, and skill-building drills with the playground balls and hockey goal. I am now able to make sure that every student who I work with will have what they need so that will not worry about how they will be able to complete assignments/projects.\r\n\r\nWorking with our special education students gives me an insight into what the families are going through at home. These students especially tend to feel embarrassed or too shy to ask for help getting what they need.
