Gardening has also fostered teamwork and communication as students collaborate to maintain garden plots and solve problems, such as protecting crops from pests (a huge problem we had!). Our students seemed to develop a stronger sense of environmental stewardship.\r\n\r\nAlternative or \"flexible\" seating—including wobble stools, and lap desks gave my students the ability to choose a seat that suits their current task to increases focus and engagement. These options are particularly beneficial for students with ADHD or sensory processing needs, as they allow for movements that help regulate energy without disrupting the class.
