We have looked at the beautiful covers many times, and we started reading The BFG. The invented language was fun to read and figure out! I was able to find many lessons to incorporate into our laguage arts and writing instruction. \r\n\r\nWe completed a direct drawing of The BFG and used ajectives to describe him! One of my favorite avctivites to do with my classes is to watch the movie after reading the book. We love to talk about the differences in the two. \r\n\r\nThank you again for this beautiful collection of books. Each morning they come in and get to work- designing, building, and cooperating. The marble run is a class favorite, as you can see in the pictures! My favorite is the straw constructors because there is so much we can do with them. I use them during STEM time to design structures based on literature we have read. One such activity was building the lodge from The Wild Robot. \r\n\r\nThe storage I chose works perfect, making it easy to put away. Students love creating gifts for their parents, and our yearly Christmas calendar is always a big hit. Students draw and personalize a picture for each month of the year. In the past, I have sent home the calendar with loose extra pieces. This year, I will be able to laminate and bind student drawings together so parents can keep these treasures for years to come.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching my students proudly flip through their finished calendars, marveling at how all their hard work had come together. Some couldn't wait to surprise their parents, while others imagined their families hanging up the calendars in a special place at home.
