I could not imagine how our days would go without the generosity of our donors. We truly appreciate everything. Students have already gone through so many snacks and they love the variety! None of my student have to be hungry throughout the day and they know they can come to me if they need a snack. Students from other classes also know that I have snacks to share if they are in need. It feels great for me, as a teacher, to know my students have at least one place to go where they do not need to worry about being hungry at all. It is a great feeling to see the impact a bag of snacks can make on a class and a school. \r\n\r\nWe love making posters and using whiteboard! My classroom is flooded with posters and every inch of my wall space is learning space thanks to the donors. I am able to make posters with the kids and they are able to use them while working independently. I am so grateful for the supplies to provide this environment for my students. We also use our whiteboard markers every day. This is an easy and fun way for my students to engage with the topics we are learning. They especially love writing on the tables. This often made it challenging to keep their energy and spirits high throughout the day.\r\n\r\nHowever, thanks to your generous support, this year I will be able to provide my 5th graders with fun and engaging supplies that they will truly enjoy and love using! Next, we identified the land and the water on the globe and gave the definition of an ocean and continent. Each day, we learned about a new continent and started a continent book. Once the books were complete, we introduced the map and compared it to the globe. Teacher and I do a \"Bring Your Parent to PE/Music Day\" where parents are invited to join in on the fun. They learned about rhythms and students and parents alike got to create melodies using the steel drums. Once the students started seeing/listening to the parents create their Caribbean melodies, the students became even more excited to try it out. My students have now deemed it as \"Caribbean Day.\" and want to know when the next one is.\r\n\r\nWe've also use the cajon as an instrument to and an accompanying rhythm to many of the songs we sing in class. It's a favorite instrument simply for the fact that the students get to actually sit on the instrument.
