All the fidgets and sensory items like cloud doh and kinetic sand have been a success in helping students regulate while learning. The playdoh is used daily for fine motor tasks and letter making. The headphones will be used when we begin testing this week! The kids love the social emotional tools to help talk about emotions. \r\n\r\nHaving flexible seating now makes all the difference for my students! Your contribution has made a significant impact on the learning experiences of our young learners.\r\nWe have introduced phonics books that have added an element of fun to our curriculum—specifically in the areas of long vowels, short vowels, digraphs, and blends. On the very first day of reading these books, the students were so captivated that they wanted to read the same book again and quickly move on to the next one. They absolutely love the colorful pictures and appreciate that the stories are short enough for us to read multiple times. This repetition allows us to have meaningful discussions about the stories and the target words, enhancing their understanding and engagement. Additionally, the students enjoy finding rhyming words throughout the books, which adds more enjoyment to their reading experience.\r\nThe Kindle Fires for Kids have brought another layer of excitement to our classroom. With access to a variety of short stories, games, and interactive apps, students are able to practice their early literacy skills in enjoyable ways. The technology has allowed them to explore reading through different mediums, which has further ignited their enthusiasm for learning.\r\nThis experience has also taught my students to be grateful for opportunities to receive new materials for our therapy room. They, like myself, have learned to appreciate what we have and to have gratitude for the extras that we are privileged to get. As Sterling K. Brown wisely said, \"Always have an attitude of gratitude.\"","fullyFundedDate":1733190159176,"projectUrl":"project/making-speech-fun/8579230/","projectTitle":"Making Speech FUN","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9250216"},{"teacherId":9249308,"projectId":8635463,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous Donors Choose funding for our gifted students. I was shocked the night I got an email that our project was fulfilled! My kids were so excited to get new books. If I had more photos to upload, I'd show the before and after of our library. It's so beautiful and inviting.\r\nI had a group of girls stay in during their lunch for over two months to organize and make room for our new books, make new labels, and jazz up our library.\r\nMy students are definitely hungry to learn and read. I know how lucky I am to be here with them. Some of the literature in our curriculum can be dry, so having these books that they love and choose is a game changer. My students are still working on reaching grade level for comprehension, retelling, and main idea skills. I've been using these books in our \"book club\" groups. These happen everyday during our reading centers. I meet with each of 7 different groups twice a week. I've created deep level comprehension questions to use during out book club meetings. It's making reading fun again! You donation will not be forgotten.
