These have been sliced in half and injected with dye so that students can see the different organs in the pigs. Since we aren't able to afford to buy pigs every year for dissection, these work perfectly because I can save them year to year.\r\n\r\nStudents have a wide range of reaction to the fetal pig. I get a lot of \"is it real?!\" \"why do you have this!?\" Then, we start looking at the different parts and discuss where it is in relation to the rest of the body. We discuss structure and function and review what we learn. These are a great way to engage students in the learning.\r\n\r\nI always keep one fetal pig out in a cabinet. Here at El Camino, our students are fluid and I constantly get new students. Time and time again, I have students pull out the pig to show new students in the class.
