These headphones have helped so much in a few ways. The students are able to practice reading aloud and recording themselves. Hearing themselves reading, while uncomfortable at first, ultimately gives them the ability to pinpoint areas to grow and they also become more comfortable with reading over time. \r\n\r\nAn unexpected benefit came from having higher quality headphones. I was able to discuss responsiblity and gratitude. My students used a check-out system to get the headphones and returned them with care each day. I was really proud of the responsibility they showed.\r\n\r\nMy students often come in with a certain attitude and view of themselves. Either they see themselves as entitled to aid, or they don't think that anyone cares about them.
