My larger general music class has been assigned an instrument, and we are learning about hand placement and proper tone production. We are easing into making sounds with songs like \"Hot Cross Buns\" and \"Mary Had a Little Lamb\". They are slowly getting adjusted to this new way of learning music and they are loving it! \r\n\r\nMy smaller general music class is a little more advanced, and with that knowledge comes the responsibility of teaching students how to play \"Way Back Then\", a song from the show Squid Game. They are having so much fun learning this song! I predict they will be able to play all of it by the end of next week. I am hopeful that both groups will be a part of our winter concert repertoire and for our multi cultural events in December. We are in our second full week of school, and I am so excited. The students were so happy to see new equipment waiting for them. My 5th hour class decided they would be the ones to open the boxes and see what was inside of them. One student in particular told me they were happy because it felt like christmas with family as they were unboxing things. 5th hour also was particularly joyful to crush the boxes for the custodian to take away. It made for a good photo opportunity as seen below. \r\n\r\nWhen 1st and 4th hour music classes saw the new equipment laying neatly on the podium, they became curious as to what kinds of instruments they were and why they were there. After explaining what a fabulous community we have at this website, I began showing students what each item was. Before I knew it, a wonderful young man told me that he has never used or played on any of these items and told me how excited he was to learn how to use them. \r\n\r\n\r\nWe are all so grateful that the majority of our taller boys can enjoy the power of music a little more comfortably. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us learn the most about music.","fullyFundedDate":1752586439903,"projectUrl":"project/hands-of-all-sizes-wanted/9224581/","projectTitle":"Hands of All Sizes Wanted","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Torres","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1632365_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1450393886469","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-torresband"},{"teacherId":1632365,"projectId":9188227,"letterContent":"We are in our third week of school. We are well prepared and positioned for a successful school year. \r\n\r\nYour assistance in helping us be ready with new supplies has contributed significantly to our start of the year. For one, we can now hear the difference between high sound, low sound and muted sound closer to our ears with the new frame drums. Second, those students that have already seen soprano recorders in elementary school can deepen and extend their knowledge with learning how to use tenor recorders. Lastly, none of my students have ever seen or used talking drums before, and they are looking forward to using them in our highlife music unit. \r\n\r\nThank you for all of your generosity towards my students. My general music class has a level of excitement of 10+ on a scale of 0-10 for playing tubanos. It's so great to see them so happy with each daily dose of music. My chorus and band students also love the world drumming curriculum. They still mainly sing and play instruments, but every now and then when time allows the students request that I give them the condensed general music lesson that week. It has boosted their basic music reading levels exponentially! So I hope you can see that by funding this extra tubano, you have helped me continue to create a positive music community.
