The students were very excited to use new and fully functioning headphones.\r\n These headphones help keep the students engaged in their learning because they can rely on them not to cut in and out on the sound, and also to pick up their voices as they read and are recorded.\r\n These headphones have been especially helpful in our end of the year assessments. They have helped the students perform their best and our testing data shows great improvements since the beginning of the year. Upon speaking with the mother, the family of 6 had fallen on some hard times, and though they had running water and food, they could not afford hygiene items. The mom was in tears. I then proceeded to shop for these students (there are three sisters), and was in tears as I filled bags with things they would need. I got goose bumps as I placed the items in their backpacks and told them to taken them home and use them. The smiles on their faces the next day were absolutely everything.\r\n\r\nA google form has been set up for teachers, counselors, and parents to gain access to the closet for the students, so that we reach as many students as possible. I am so grateful for the donations that made this possible and am excited to see it grow.\r\n\r\nI am currently working to secure repeated funding to guarantee the closet is around for years to come, and further to assist with its expansion into some clothing items. I look forward to seeing where this venture takes us, and the opportunities it affords our wonderful students. Thank you again.","fullyFundedDate":1739550469946,"projectUrl":"project/eastside-elementary-community-closet-pro/9031855/","projectTitle":"Eastside Elementary Community Closet Project","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sherrod","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8991410_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y100&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683134571332","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ssherrod"},{"teacherId":8991410,"projectId":8742496,"letterContent":"My students have been using these resources regularly in the classroom. When I say regularly I mean daily. They are utilizing them to make use of the required district curriculum programs as well as to enhance their learning and interests. \r\n\r\nThese students were thrilled when they saw both the head phones and the snacks. They rarely see new things, so boxes and boxes filled with new headphones for them to use was a real novelty. They have taken good care of them and treat them with great respect.\r\n\r\nThese students are Emergent Bilingual students and desperately need to practice not just reading and writing in English, but also speaking. These headphones are utilized with this purpose in mind. They can view content in English and listen to the language. They use the microphone to speak in English with the district approved programs. They use other programs and the headphones allow them to focus.\r\n\r\nThank you so very much for your contribution to my students success.
