The new sets of books for the students have been a great inspiration for annotating and analyzing the books by individual students. Each book has a unique writing style that helps me teach standards from both literary and informational. I was so grateful to receive new copies of these beloved books and continue to use them in my classroom until they fall apart. We receive a new magazine each month that has a variety of skills and stories. Each magazine has at least one narrative nonfiction story, a drama/play, a poem, a grammar skill, and recently they have added a comic using Latin suffixes. All of these items are used in my classroom to enhance learning and engaging with interesting texts. The students most enjoy the historical narratives about certain times and places; it allows them to further their knowledge about historical events. The different formats keep them engaged. It is also helpful to me as a teacher because Scope Scholastic provides slides, videos, and skill assessments with each article.
