Due to your generosity we have been able to implement a number of positive rewards for our students to create an uplifting 4th grade climate. \r\n\r\nThe students are very excited about being able to earn prizes from our \"prize cart\". This has made them more excited about earning class tickets which they can redeem for prizes and therefore helped teachers implement and reward positive behavior routines in their classes. The variety of prizes let's different students find different things that excite them and is very motivating. We have also begun to implement grade-level assemblies that promote a certain social or leaning skill and use the prizes there to celebrate student success. \r\n\r\nThe materials have lasted through the first semester of the year and we still have more to share with students who are working hard, demonstrating excellence, and meeting their goals. We appreciate your contribution to supporting our 4th graders and their social and learning skills this year. Your donation helped give my students delicious snacks that lasted months to help keep them focused and fed throughout the school day. I remember the day that 5 boxes showed up in the classroom, and I had opened them up when my students began walking in. They asked where these snacks come from and if I purchased them. I told them I did not, but that there were some very generous people who donated money for us to have snacks in our classroom. They were in shock and obviously wanted to open the snacks immediately! \r\n\r\nSome of my students had never had their own waterbottle before and could not believe that they had one of their own to keep and take home. The first student that I gave a waterbottle to wanted purple, but the boxes didn't have the colors on them, so we had to open up all of the boxes until we got to the very last one, which was the exact shade of purple she was hoping for! She asked me about 4 times if I was sure it was her waterbottle that she could keep and take home. I even made a name tag for her to have on her waterbottle so she could show her classmates that it was hers, that now she had one of her own, just like them.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our classroom now has a designated snack time that has become the highlight of my students' day. This special time provides more than just a snack; it offers a much-needed break in the afternoon when energy and focus can start to fade. Students look forward to this moment to recharge, connect with one another, and return to learning feeling refreshed and ready. The support from you, our donors, has made a meaningful difference in our daily routine, helping create a positive, nurturing environment where students feel cared for and set up for success.\r\n\r\nIn terms of next steps, we are coming up on the middle of the school year. My students have begun learning different letter sounds and learning how to put them together to form words. We are at the point in the year where they are now applying these skills to read short consonant-vowel-consonant words, which will progress into 3-4 word sentences to full sentences in stories. To help my students practice their phonemic awareness and reading, I have created a new project, \"Growing Confident Readers, One Book at a Time.\" The focus of this project is to purchase materials such as Learning to Read books and Read Along Stories with CD's to help students practice their reading in the classroom. I want to use these materials to support individual students during my focused instructional time by taking turns reading with peers, and as a literacy center option for students to practice these skills in a small, independent group. The Read Along Stories act as a scaffold to students when learning how to read by providing students the opportunity to listen to fluent and expressive readers while following along in their own book.\r\n\r\nLastly, I want to say thank you again. Thank you so much to you, the incredible donors, for everything you have done to support my classroom. Your generosity, kindness, and belief in my students mean more than words can express. Because of you, our classroom is a more engaging, supportive, and joyful place to learn each day. We are deeply grateful for your continued support and the positive impact you have made on my students' lives; thank you, thank you, thank you!","fullyFundedDate":1759696184540,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-students-stay-focused-and-fed/9681261/","projectTitle":"Help My Students Stay Focused And Fed!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McKnight","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10113601_orig.jpg?crop=272,272,x156,y246&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759718624857","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10113601"},{"teacherId":9572746,"projectId":9577148,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donations toward our new classroom carpet. The moment the students saw the brightly colored carpet, they were ecstatic! It brightened up the classroom immediately. The carpet serves as our main learning space and the students are able to focus on the lessons better because they are not distracted by fraying edges with little strings to pull! Each child has his/her own space that allows for easy movement between the tables in the room and the learning space on the carpet.\r\n\r\nThe students also gravitate to the carpet during indoor recess, where they can play with creative materials such as Legos, blocks, marbles, and puzzles. Imagine the difference it makes to their comfort when they sit on the carpet as opposed to the bare floor. \r\n\r\nThe carpet truly is the focal point in our classroom. We spend more time there than all of the other spaces in the room. When students have the choice of places to learn, they choose the colorful, comfortable carpet that your donations made possible! During small-group time, the double-sided whiteboard has been great for teaching and letting students practice with me. The raffle tickets have also brought a lot of excitement to our classroom!
