Machine sewing is a large unit in our FACS curriculum at West Seneca East Middle. We believe that learning to sew on a machine has several benefits besides the physical end product. The act of machine sewing helps to develop several skills including: technical reading, organization, machine/equipment safety, hand and\r\neye coordination, patience, perseverance, team work skills (our students have a partner on each machine), and preparing students for some careers. Most of the students in my classes are sewing on sewing machines for the first time and are very excited to learn all the skills involved! This project gives new confidence to so many students that often struggle in other subjects. It gives them new tools to advocate for themselves in the future. By addressing their hunger, you are helping them focus, stay engaged, and perform at their best.\r\nYour kindness and generosity show that you care about the future of these young minds, and that means the world to us.
