My students used the underglaze for a sgraffito project and also a Native American application of painted feathers to their lidded pots. Additionally students used the colors just to paint on the surface of their bisque fired pot to create more texture and interest to the surface of their pot.\r\nStudents loved the opportunity to try a new application with underglaze. The like underglaze since they are able to paint it directly on to the clay surface when it is still wet or when the pot has been fired once (bisque fired). This versatile application really expands the students creative ideas on how to complete the look of their pot.\r\nNext students have a choice to use the underglaze how they prefer to get the look they want.","fullyFundedDate":1742919419101,"projectUrl":"project/adding-color-and-texture-to-our-ceramic/9187903/","projectTitle":"Adding Color and Texture to Our Ceramic Creations","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Curtiss","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9889556_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736559580909","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9889556"},{"teacherId":9728372,"projectId":8842677,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your generous support in fulfilling my project, The Stage is Set, Let the Music Begin! Thanks to your kindness, my students and I have had the incredible opportunity to enhance our musical education in ways that were once beyond reach. The resources provided have had a profound impact on my students, and I wanted to share how they have made a difference.\r\n\r\nWith your help, we now have a classroom microphone, a pitch pipe, guitar tuner, chair bands, a new djembe, and drumsticks. These tools have transformed our music lessons in numerous ways. The microphone has been a game-changer for me, saving my voice while ensuring my students can hear every instruction clearly. The djembe and drumsticks have brought a new level of excitement to our lessons, allowing my students to engage in rhythm and percussion exercises that directly support their math and reading skills. By learning to play rhythms and patterns, students are improving their ability to recognize and work with fractions, counting, and patterns – all fundamental math skills that are strengthened through music.\r\n\r\nThe benefits of these instruments extend beyond the classroom as well. Learning to play music helps my students understand the structure of notation and lyrics, which parallels their reading development. Not only are they growing as musicians, but they are also becoming better readers, enhancing their comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency. The act of analyzing song lyrics encourages critical thinking, interpretation, and memory – all essential skills for success both in and out of the classroom. The chair bands are great fidgets and students really enjoy using them. Most of my students have never seen a tuning fork and it has been fun to incorporate into our lessons. \r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding parts of teaching music is watching my students' faces light up when they pick up an instrument or sing a song they love. The joy and confidence they gain from making music together have been immeasurable. I've witnessed firsthand how music fosters community, builds self-esteem, and teaches teamwork – lessons that extend far beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, I am able to provide my students with the tools and experiences that will shape their academic and personal growth for years to come. Music is truly a gift, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to share it with my students.","fullyFundedDate":1733344897429,"projectUrl":"project/the-stage-is-set-let-the-music-begin/8842677/","projectTitle":"The Stage is Set, Let the Music Begin!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schoppe","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9728372"},{"teacherId":7453352,"projectId":8803739,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the donation for my science classes. We've been able to incorporate many of the materials and look forward to using the rest of them as we move through our curriculum this year. My students in genetics had a great time watching fruit flies reproduce and looking at the different characteristics that came through as more generation were produced and comparing predicted offspring with actual offspring.\r\n\r\nOther students have been able to see diffusion and osmosis in action through the use of dialysis tubing which gives a more realistic component to the concept as they see material move across a membrane. Students will also be incorporating various statistical methods and applying them to genetic concepts using the chi-square method with our corn. We look forward to continuing to use the material and information that we have been able to obtain through our donors choose monies.","fullyFundedDate":1727025313337,"projectUrl":"project/its-in-the-math-my-dear-watson/8803739/","projectTitle":"It's in the Math, My Dear Watson!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schoenfeld","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7453352_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726752774343","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7453352"},{"teacherId":9747521,"projectId":8777172,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support in providing our classroom with essential materials.
