As a newer Speech Therapist my current repertoire of materials is limited, but thanks to you I am able to choose from a wide variety of books for my preschoolers. One of my favorite things is watching them look in awe at the book pile I brought in and seeing how quickly they took to books like Elephant and Piggie with the matching plush animals and Llama Llama books.\r\n\r\nEarly literacy plays a significant role in a child's development of speech and language. It helps them learn new concepts and provides an avenue for imagination through the vibrant visuals on the page. Each book I chose for this project was specifically curated to include books that covered a range of basic concepts, preschool vocabulary, early speech sounds, and themes that we target at my school. \r\n\r\nSo many of my students do not talk yet, but the connection we are able to make through the enjoyment of these stories goes beyond words. I look forward to using these books daily in my classroom sessions! They will be loved and very appreciated for a long time.","fullyFundedDate":1746786089653,"projectUrl":"project/little-voices-big-stories-building-lan/9238495/","projectTitle":"Little Voices, Big Stories: Building Language Through Books","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sydney Speech Language Therapy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9647651_orig.png?crop=631,631,x0,y69&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723397933961","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9647651"},{"teacherId":9730637,"projectId":8740468,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous contribution of classroom materials to my special education classroom. Your support has made an incredible difference in the lives of my students, and I want to take a moment to thank you for your kindness and generosity. \r\n\r\nAs a special education teacher, I work with students who have diverse needs and abilities. Each child in my classroom has a unique learning style and requires personalized materials and resources to thrive. Unfortunately, as is often the case in underfunded educational environments, there are limited resources available for us to provide the necessary support. This is why your donation means so much to me and my students. \r\n\r\nThanks to your contribution, we have been able to provide specialized tools, educational games, sensory equipment, and assistive technology that enhance the learning experience for my students. These materials help foster an environment where all students can engage, grow, and succeed at their own pace. Your thoughtful donation has given them the opportunity to learn in ways that are meaningful and accessible to them. \r\n\r\nIt's amazing to see how these new materials have already made a difference. For some of my students, the addition of sensory tools has provided much-needed comfort and focus, helping them to better manage their emotions and stay engaged in lessons. Others have benefited from visual aids and hands-on activities that cater to their learning strengths, allowing them to participate more fully in class discussions and projects. The impact of these resources goes beyond just academic growth; they help build self-esteem, confidence, and a sense of belonging. \r\n\r\nOn behalf of all my students and myself, I want to extend our sincerest thanks. We are deeply grateful for your thoughtfulness and generosity. Your donation not only makes a tangible difference in the day-to-day learning experience but also creates a lasting impact on the lives of my students. They are so fortunate to have supporters like you who believe in their potential and work to ensure they have the tools they need to succeed. \r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your incredible support. It means the world to us, and we are excited to continue using these materials to enhance our learning and growth.","fullyFundedDate":1735230035813,"projectUrl":"project/persistent-promising-persevering-presc/8740468/","projectTitle":"Persistent, Promising, Persevering Preschoolers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9730637_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725505359517","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9730637"},{"teacherId":9647651,"projectId":8625569,"letterContent":"The new articulation cards have been a game-changer in our speech sessions! My preschoolers lit up with excitement when they saw the bright, fun images—especially the silly animals and food cards. We've been using them in games like \"sound scavenger hunts,\" memory matching, and storytelling activities. One of my favorite moments so far was when a student who's been hesitant to speak began confidently naming and describing pictures during a card game—it was such a proud moment for both of us!\r\n\r\nThe cards make practicing speech sounds feel like play, which keeps students engaged and motivated. They've quickly become a favorite part of our routine, and I've seen real progress in both sound production and confidence. Whether we're practicing /s/, /k/, or final consonants, these visuals help make abstract sounds more concrete and fun.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're using the cards to build toward mini \"speech showcases,\" where students will create short stories using their target sounds and share them with peers. It's a fun way to celebrate their hard work and reinforce carryover skills.
