You should see how they light up when they hear and see their home language being spoken and celebrated in the classroom; it instantly makes them feel welcome, secure, and ready to learn.\r\nWe have integrated these incredible tools into our daily small-group reading instruction and independent centers. The multisensory resources have been a total game-changer. Specifically, the tactile sandpaper letters and sand trays have been instrumental in helping students map letter formations and sounds directly into their brains. Watching a student trace a letter with their fingers while sounding it out, and then seeing that lightbulb moment click, is incredibly powerful.
