As I work with a diverse range of scholars in different grade levels, the fidgets have been utilized in different settings. When working with my scholars, I sit down with them and we review their IEP and discuss what they mean. Together, we work to create a plan for them to complete their IEP goals, as well as making a personalized layout for the steps to get there.\r\n\r\nI have an seventh grade scholar who has ADHD and really struggles to have a calm body in the classroom. This scholar will tap his pen or pencil throughout the lesson which distracts peers and results in teacher redirection. When redirected, the scholar grows frustrated and it interrupts classroom learning. When I showed the fidgets to the scholar, the individual said that they don't realize when they are fidgeting until it's brought to attention. This scholar perused the collection of fidgets and has been carrying a marble mat during the schooldays with him since choosing one. The scholar was interested in the marble mat because they had never seen one before. The marble mats are quiet and they provide an alternative way to direct the scholars fidgeting.","fullyFundedDate":1732027340157,"projectUrl":"project/our-fidgeting-is-distracting-our-learnin/8765345/","projectTitle":"Our Fidgeting Is Distracting Our Learning! When I bring out the supplies for our color-coding activities, scholars are focused and eager to participate. We are engaging more in the building blocks of language and literacy: parts of speech, figurative language, mechanics, essay organization, and so much more.\r\n\r\nScholars are more organized, keeping track of their knowledge-building. Using their personal organization system from your donation, scholars have learned to use their hard work from note-taking and intervention activities in a way that carries over to new projects. They see the transfer of information from unit to unit and subject to subject which helps give a greater purpose for learning.\r\n\r\nAll of this builds literacy and critical thinking skills and it couldn't be happening right now without your financial support.","fullyFundedDate":1725458061699,"projectUrl":"project/organizing-for-literacy-and-critical-thi/8530786/","projectTitle":"Organizing for Literacy and Critical Thinking","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Newman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8179328_orig.jpg?crop=1381,1381,x934,y1296&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1701399735638","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8179328"},{"teacherId":9376102,"projectId":8455554,"letterContent":"Thank you for your donation and contribution to helping my classroom succeed. The filing folders and drawer that you helped purchase is used daily in my classroom. \r\n\r\nOne example includes when I work in small groups or one-on-one help with scholars. I have a scholar who reads severely below grade level. When working with her recently, the scholar suddenly began crying. When I asked her what was wrong, she said \"I can't do it\", \"it's hard\", and \"I'm not a good reader\". It was extremely helpful that I could reach into the finishing cabinet and pull her file. In her file, she was able to see how her oral fluency accuracy and words read per minute have improved from the beginning of the year to the middle of the year. While she had doubts and frustrations, she was still reminded about the growth she had made. It was helpful for me to support and reassure her about having a growth mindset.","fullyFundedDate":1724877276160,"projectUrl":"project/organized-environment-for-better-learnin/8455554/","projectTitle":"Organized Environment for Better Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bahl","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9376102_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y1008&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1702076865385","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9376102"},{"teacherId":9376102,"projectId":8455591,"letterContent":"The resources donated through your gift are used daily in my classroom. It has helped organize our incentive items, including multiplication and math facts flashcards, phonics flashcards, writing and coloring tools, colored paper, and their favorites--the scented markers. When they first saw the bins they were most excited about the different colors and the lids that keep everything together. They enjoy stacking the bins on top of each other and have a specific order that they like to put them in. The clear bins are so helpful to keep our snack incentives safe because the lids seal them inside. \r\n\r\nI am grateful for the filing cabinet because it has wheels that allow me to easily move it. I store all of my student files and examples of complete work that allows me to easily grab and show parents during parent teacher conferences and annual IEP meetings. The students who attend these meetings proudly show their families their growth from the beginning of the year to now. \r\n\r\nCurrently many of my middle school students need extra practice with math facts. They are learning 3 digit by 2 digit multiplication. Practicing multiplication facts using our flashcards allow them to complete their large multiplication problems with more confidence. It is easy to mix up numbers and lose one's place if they need to keep stopping to make arrays or count on their fingers. Since they know where the flashcards are located, they are able to practice during their free time. They enjoy quizzing each other or making timed competitions with one another.","fullyFundedDate":1724334048450,"projectUrl":"project/where-does-this-item-go-lets-give-it-a/8455591/","projectTitle":"Where Does This Item Go?
