Your contribution has a significant impact—your kindness enriches our learning environment, boosts students' self-esteem, encourages intellectual curiosity, and supports the academic growth of every student. \r\n\r\nYour donation has provided us with resources that are both educational and inspiring. Each book offers students the chance to explore, learn about their hearing loss, and develop their unique voices. Books about deaf individuals or those featuring deaf or hard-of-hearing characters help our students stay engaged and inspired by others' successes. They learn that their disability does not limit them in any way.\r\n\r\nThe long-term impact of your donation is significant. The books you've provided will benefit students for many years to come. While I haven't met my students yet, I've been preparing engaging activities and lessons that will help them feel excited and supported from day one. These materials will be a huge part of creating a warm, hands-on learning environment—especially during literacy and play-based centers.\r\n\r\nI can already imagine their faces lighting up when they see the colorful books, manipulatives, and creative tools. I plan to kick off the year with interactive alphabet centers, storytelling activities, and plenty of opportunities for exploration. Thanks to your support, I'll be able to offer my students a classroom filled with curiosity, joy, and opportunities to grow. The two activities you purchased specifically for rhyming have been extremely helpful. The magnetic rhyming board has numerous tiles, providing many opportunities for practice. I love that the tiles are magnetic, as they help keep all the game pieces intact. The Splash game is one I recently discovered, and while the students think they are playing, they are actually working and learning. These are the best activities! Thank you for providing these for our class. \r\n The Meg and Greg books embrace the \"latest craze,\" as graphic novels have become quite popular with young students today. What's nice about this series is the focus on phonics. They target stories with specific phonetic skills such as blends, digraphs, and phoneme patterns. The way the books are written by highlighting particular skills in various chapters allows me to pick and choose the area to focus on, and all students can benefit from as little as one chapter, up to all the chapters. \r\n The Yak Pack books also embrace the comic book craze that students enjoy. It's a fun way to work on phonetics rather than the skill/drill flashcards. The author's ability to make conversations in comics themed on phonics is impressive. I enjoy using this series with students and watching their phonic skills improve. \r\n I am so happy you purchased all the books in each series, so I can access many phonetic challenges that hard-of-hearing students face. Thank you so much. Your support is appreciated.","fullyFundedDate":1739560244381,"projectUrl":"project/phonics-are-challenging-for-hard-of-hear/9048721/","projectTitle":"Phonics Are Challenging for Hard-of-Hearing Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Leonard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp659852_orig.png?crop=470,470,x0,y61&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695222136389","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/659852"},{"teacherId":659852,"projectId":8893973,"letterContent":"First, I want to express my immense gratitude for the rolling bag. It has significantly improved my ability to transport materials to the classrooms I visit. It's the perfect storage solution, and my back, wrists, and shoulders thank you as well! \r\n I can't thank you enough for the books about stuttering. I have been able to read these with my classes to help them understand stuttering and how to interact with peers who stutter, and most importantly, how to show kindness and compassion towards others with differences. The book about stuttering also helps me as a teacher in the special education department to share some teaching strategies with my colleagues so that we can also educate the general education teachers we work with. These books have already made an impact at school. I'm looking forward to using them again next year with new peers and new classroom teachers.\r\n The deaf/hard-of-hearing students on my caseload are enjoying the books you have donated with deaf role models and characters who have a hearing loss. Books like the Emma series are great as they help build a love for reading when they can read a series of books with the same characters, and one who is deaf, too. Being able to identify with book characters inspires creativity and imagination, which transfers to their language and writing skills. Thank you for adding to our library of books that represent us. \r\n Lastly, I have had fun using the Splash game that you purchased. This Splash was for beginning sounds, and I have used it in multiple ways to help build phonic skills. Splash has other topics, and I'll be ordering more as this is a great activity that makes learning fun. \r\n I appreciate your kindness and willingness to fund this project for my students.
