Before, students were constantly worried about their phones dying or sneaking quick charges at random outlets around the room, which often led to distractions or interruptions. Now, with a designated place to charge their phones safely, they can plug them in at the start of class and shift their attention back to learning. It's created a more organized and intentional environment where students feel they don't have to juggle between staying connected and staying engaged.\r\n\r\nThe Charging Station has also helped build a sense of trust and responsibility among students. They know that they have a space to charge their phones without keeping them on their desks, so there's less temptation to check messages or scroll through social media during lessons. This small addition has encouraged more face-to-face interaction, collaboration, and focus. Students seem more present and engaged, and the classroom feels calmer and more productive overall. It's a simple change, but it's made a big difference in creating a better balance between technology and learning.","fullyFundedDate":1755655646711,"projectUrl":"project/cell-phone-charging-station-fewer-dist/9615524/","projectTitle":"Cell Phone Charging Station = Fewer Distractions!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Pearson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2834822_orig.png?crop=1024,1024,x0,y126&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755548807670","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2834822"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_74408","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":494,"numTeachers":46,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":13,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":75,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"10.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":53.8,"schoolId":74408,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dr Jorge Alvarez High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dr Jorge Alvarez High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/rhode-island/providence-public-school-district/dr-jorge-alvarez-high-school/74408"}
